Fed up of hostel hoping and trying to find a good one- luckily I landed in Potato. This is far most the best one in Singapore that I have come across. Pros: The staff is really helpful and always there (Preet- who handles the reception is very responsive and makes sure all the guests get the best comfort) Trust me this is the cleanest one I have come across. Before booking I was a bit skeptical about this place as I went through the reviews which were mix of positive and negative comments but the moment I stepped in, it felt lively and clean. They replace the bedsheets everyday and give you a fresh towel every now and then. This place is centrally located and everything is nearby and very well connected by MRT. Had a chance to meet the owner at the property and what a person(ground to earth guy) I would personally recommend this if you happen to read my comment . Thank me later
I recently stayed at Potato Boutique Hotel, but unfortunately, my stay left me feeling more mashed than refreshed. The photos online are technically accurate but taken with such wizardry you'd think Harry Potter was in charge of the angles, making everything appear way bigger than it actually is. As you walk in, you arrive at the reception area, which, with one table and a few chairs, doubles as the common area. To the left is the dorm, which houses 20 people. To the right is the kitchen, which is so tiny that if two people are in it, you’ve got yourself an impromptu tango. From the kitchen, you enter the bathroom, but be warned — if someone’s cooking, you’re probably stuck, as the door won't open without hitting something or someone. And if you need to get past someone at the bathroom sink, be prepared to engage in a game of human Tetris. There are three toilets and two showers for 20 people, cleaned once a day, so both early morning and at night they're not the best. Often people didn't flush properly which was not a pretty sight. During our stay, there was some kind of gathering in the common area. Trying to get to the shower meant elbowing your way through, towel-clad, like some sort of awkward gladiator. My girlfriend was so uncomfortable with the crowd that she opted to skip the shower, which is not great in humid weather. The fun continued at night. There’s a sign that says quiet hours start at 10 p.m., which I assume is meant as more of a suggestion. By 1 a.m., there was still someone having a heartfelt phone conversation in the dorm (their love life must be intense). The lights, which are supposed to go off at a reasonable hour, didn’t shut down until around 3 a.m., and if you dare to turn them off yourself, don’t worry — the next person will promptly switch them back on. The staff, instead of enforcing these "rules," decided to join in the fun. I was woken up at 3 a.m. when someone checked into their pod, accompanied by the main lights and a staff member speaking at full volume. Extra points for late check in I guess. And let’s talk about the mattress. I’ve been traveling all over Asia, and this mattress was so hard it was comparable to the camping mat I used in Laos. On the plus side, the location is fantastic. You're in the middle of everything, so if you’re looking to explore the city, it’s all right outside the door. You just might want to make sure you’ve had a nap beforehand, because restful nights here aren’t guaranteed! Some of the other reviews also mention activities and breakfast, we didn't see either of these. To sum it up, if you're just looking to save some money for a night, Potato Boutique might be for you. But if you want to actually explore the city with any energy left, I’d recommend peeling out of here and staying somewhere else!
I am very happy staying in Potato. staff is very good and very friendly,. hostel is very neat and very clean. this is my first trip to singapore, im very much satisfied choosing potato hostel. i suggest this hostel. Preet the hostel receptionist is very friendly and helping kind of girl. entire hostel is good, very near to mmt and restaurants.
A good place to stay if you don't mind sharing with other travelers. The beds are comfortable, ample space for bags and quite secure. The bathroom facilities could be better because some cubicles don't have racks to put your toiletries on and it's quite cramped but overall our stay has been pleasant. Thank you!

“Good, but...”
Comfortable beds, clean room But the toilet trash should be taken cared of regularly. Sometimes no more toilet paper. It say I can early checkin on Agoda but when I asked the hostel, they didn't. I requested bottom bed, but again they didn't. It is so hard to climb the ladder and easily fall if not careful. It is hazardous! The ladder is so hard it can hurt your feet climbing up. Location is great though for Indian food, market, and mrt. Staff are nice, except for those who're always on their phones. One knocked while I was inside the dressing room so just she can have a private place to talk with someone on the phone. Does that make sense??? Also, bathroom has stains and should be removed. Bathroom area is so cramp. Can barely move around
