Auvergne Region hotels & accommodations

The hotel reception and room were excellent (large flat screen TV) however this is the first Campanile hotel I have come across with no restaurant. We found no acceptable place to dine locally so decided to go into the centre. Having sat in the car most of the day we chose to walk the 2.6 Km - big mistake! There were gangs of youths hanging out in shop doorways and in ...

We stayed here as a stop over in a long road trip from England to the Costa Brava. It was a comfortable nights sleep and a good family room that was able to sleep all 5 of us. The staff were friendly and helpful & we enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. It was just what we needed. Thank you!

I've stayed in Campanile motels before many years ago but today, they have really improved their standards. Here you get free WiFi for your whole duration, a very good associated restaurant with a good choice of food, with service in the evenings! The rooms are adequate, yet still have tea making facilities and comfortable beds. I would imagine without a Navigation sys...

Comfortable. Friendly and central. You couldn't ask for more than that from a great hotel. We only had one negative comment which we felt needed looking into and that was, they cleaned and re made up our rooms before we checked out. We were having breakfast at the time and did have concerns that all our belongings including luggage, lap tops and cameras where in the r...

If you aren’t expecting anything more than basic comfort then don’t stay and then moan or give a low score. We found it met our needs and was comfortable and relatively clean. The bed was ok and room air conditioned. The €5 breakfast was also reasonably good value. Fresh bread, brioche, yoghurts, cereal and hot drinks all included to eat as much as you like. We would s...

Perfect position to visit Vichy and for Ironman competition (the distance to the Ironman transition area is just 2.5 km), good quality/price ratio, basic breakfast (available from 4 AM in the morning of Ironman race!). The only drawbacks: no lift and no air conditioning, but you have to consider the very good price.

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff. Room was small but very clean and had a lovely view up the winding street. Handy car-park too at back of hotel - set you GPS for the car park if driving!! Beautifl town with winding small streets and lovely little restaurants and bars. Plenty to see and too in a real relaxed location. One word of warning, the GPS does not kno...

This is a small independent hotel close to centre with very helpful English speaking staff. There is private parking although you do need to book a place to be sure of getting one. Breakfast is traditional French and perfectly adequate. We had a budget double room on the fourth floor that was reached by a tiny lift, barely able to accommodate two people and some lugga...

Located in front of Montluçon train station with SNCF services. I booked a double room for my parents from agoda. But when we went there check in, a couple at reception counter inform that no payment found in thier system and I had to pay by my credit card again but lucky they charged only once. A room is pretty small but enough for 2 people. Toilet is small but clea...

We got extra good value at A$85 per night. Coin laundry on site was easy to fit in with. Inexpensive Lidl supermarket 5Km nearby. We had a two storey, 2 bedroom unit with kitchen. Bland interior but practical and convenient. Outer circle units can have views onto fields and crops. West facing in back may be best. We were in the inner block close to reception. No traffi...

4-star hotels in Auvergne Region

I arrived very late but this was treated as no problem at all, and the owners were very helpful at all times. Good restaurants and the bakery are a short walk away, free on street parking was available and the appartment was clean and quiet. If stairs are a problem to you request a ground floor roo as there is no lift.

Unforgettable Reasons to Explore Auvergne
One of the most compelling reasons to visit Auvergne is its breathtaking natural landscapes. The region is home to the stunning Chaîne des Puys, a UNESCO World Heritage site, featuring a series of dormant volcanoes that create a unique and dramatic skyline. Hiking enthusiasts will revel in the extensive trail network that allows for exploration of this volcanic wonderland, offering panoramic views that are simply unforgettable. In addition to hiking, the region's lakes, such as the tranquil Chauvet Lake, provide perfect spots for picnicking, swimming, and relaxing in nature's embrace.
Beyond its natural beauty, Auvergne boasts a rich historical tapestry that dates back to ancient times. The region is dotted with significant historical sites, including the impressive Saint-Martin Church, which showcases stunning architecture and a glimpse into the region's past. Visitors can also explore the CNCS - Centre National du Costume de Scene, which offers a fascinating insight into the world of theater and costume design. This blend of history and culture makes Auvergne a captivating destination for those looking to immerse themselves in the local heritage.

The Perfect Season to Experience Auvergne
The best time to visit Auvergne largely depends on what you want to experience. Spring (April to June) is a delightful season, as the flowers bloom and the landscapes come alive with vibrant colors. Additionally, spring brings various local festivals that celebrate the region's culture and traditions, allowing visitors to partake in the lively atmosphere.
Summer (July to August) is another popular time to visit, especially for those looking to enjoy outdoor activities. The warm weather is perfect for hiking, cycling, and water sports, making it an ideal season for adventure seekers. However, it is also the peak tourist season, so be prepared for larger crowds in popular areas. If you prefer a quieter experience, consider visiting in early September when the weather is still warm, but the summer tourist rush has subsided.

Each season in Auvergne presents a unique opportunity to experience the region's beauty and culture.
