Ifugao hotels & places to stay

I booked 11 hotels through agoda. for our 3 weeks vacation (Philippines, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur) and this lovely hotel stands out. The only regret- was we missed the cultural show; cause we checked in late. The hospitality; food and location is excellent. The hotel made efforts to put up my long name in front of the hotel to welcome us and the genuine hospitality of the Ifugaos serving welcome drinks and breakfast is awesome. I booked 3 rooms and 2 rooms were connected which is perfect. The prompt service and natural airconditioning really adds up. The mattress; water; gift shop; lobby and the surrounding area makes Banaue hotel an excellent place to stay while visiting the Banaue Rice Terraces.

Being rainy season, the roads were a bit wet and there were landslides on the zigzag road from Hungduan to the Inn. We tried to get there before dark as advised by the owner. He texted us the best route and the best places to eat along the way. We had Karekare and cheesecake in Mrs. Baker located in Bayombong Town Proper. That was heavenly as it was 2:30 pm lunch. Fotunately, we brought a Pajero and the muddy road was not a problem. We arrived around 7 pm and were greeted by Rain, a handsome dog at the main gate. It seemed like we were on top of a mountain. The staff carried our bags and led us to our cottage. We were so lucky that other guests were arriving the next day and so it was like we had our own private bathroom to ourselves. I actually thought that separate toilets will be a problem but it was fine because it was clean. Well, we didn't really mind going up and down the ladder as we were quite fit. When we woke up the next day, we were surprised by the spectacular view of the Hungduan rice terraces right in front of us while having a hearty breakfast of fresh mangoes and the corned beef set. Off we went to Sagada. The We enjoyed the view of different terraces along the way and the scent of pine trees engulfed the car as we had the sun roof open. We just had to immersed our senses and indulge. I love the Ifugao house and I highly recommend it. I don't think a Ritz Carlotn is suited in the this setting.

We stayed there for 3 days and 2 nights. The rooms facing the street was a bit noisy then because of an alumni celebration and parade nearby, so we requested to be transferred in a room facing the mountains. It was resolved fast and easy. It was a basic room with a bed, vanity cabinet and private comfort room. No television, but the wifi was fast. The food in their resto was i think one the best in banaue town proper. We actually ate somewhere but we came back to uyami resto because their food is still the best among the rest. The staffs are very accommodating. Hillside Inn has the best view of Batad Rice terraces from our room.(make sure you request a room with the view). There were 5 of us. We're just excited to see a place we've only seen in pictures and movies since childhood. Et voila after 10 hours of bus ride (Ohayami bus services) from Sampaloc Manila to Banaue. Make sure you arrange all transportations with Hillside Inn because if you don't you will find yourself paying for more if you don't know any better. There is a jeep that goes to Batad from Banaue Local market ( price unknown as I wasn't given a change to haggle and a post a note on my foreheads "generouslady" 😀) if you're in a budget and know where to go at Batad I suggest you do that. But after a long bus ride you just want to Be where you want to Be. After the confusion our pick-up arrived a minute late I say and he admitted😀. We discussed our transport fee and it cost me (4,500 including a tour guide. this is including a return transport to Banaue. Does it sound expensive? I say yes but if you asked and arrange everything thru Hillside which I've admit I've forgotten maybe it will be cheaper. They did gave me a quote for a car pooling price which was more reasonable and again as I was busy thinking everything was ok for our trip I forgot could have saved me a little more for spending money😀.Live, travel and learn... From our journey to Banaue I'll say less than an hour depending on the road we arrived at Batad drop off point. A 20-30minutes trek (depends how long your legs are..mine was a bit challenge) to the town of Batad, every step was counted (I've stopped after 10) it was a good walked I've warned my nieces about the walk and I don't want any complains and they didn't as we were overtaken by an old lady carrying a sack of sand on her head walking as fast as she can with a mismatched slippers (thongs) so no complains at all. After 25 minutes walk we arrived and saw the green roof of hillside inn over looking the Batad rice terraces...yes it was

We only had two days and one night here but wished we had stayed longer. Must be the best place to stay in Banuae as it is a short walk away from the town and is lovely and peaceful. The service from Bea is outstanding, contacting us after we booked to help us get to her and then got our bus tickets for us and put us on the night bus. We arranged a trip to Batad with her too along with other guests and had a fantastic day. Fabulous!

We stayed for one night and it was by far the best homestay experience. The room is clean, inn interior looks new, toilet served its purpose very well, and the friendly staff makes you feel home. They even provide locals traditional costume for photo session, and first hand experience for harvestment of rice with the locals. There were cultural show on that night, and for the first timer, strongly recommend to enjoy the show for once, as it really tell us a lot about the native village batad. Do request room at the higher floor as it provide the best rice terrace view. And for those travel in larger group(4-5pax), you can look for ifugao hut stay at Ramon homestay, same location same owner same staff.

It feels great to be able to experience staying in a native Ifugao hut. The place has very good views of the rice terraces, so you have a pituresque view for the whole duration of your stay, perfect for picture taking. No need to stop by other view decks in Banaue. The place is very cozy and relaxing. You can request for a bonfire at a minimal charge, which is really useful at night when the temp is chilling. The inside of the hut provides just enough warmth for you to have a good night sleep. Although if you are travelling with an elderly who has difficulty climbing stairs or walking inclined paths, going to the huts may be a challenge for them (I suggest you request to be put in the nearest/lowest location). The location was quite far from the town proper, but we didn't mind since we brought all our food with us. It is for those who want to relax away from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life.

Sometimes the path to new beginnings start with roads that are less traveled on. There are no concrete pathways going to Ramon's Homestay. Trekking and hiking was inevitable. Every step took us away further from the city noise; there were no car engine sounds, no horns beeping, no fones ringing. Upon reaching Ramon's Homestay we were welcomed by kind and smiling faces. And of course, Ramon, the owner himself. Having the owner greet us and making sure that the we were comfortably settled gave our trip a more homey feel. Instead of sleeping in the normal rooms, my family opted to stay in the Ifugao huts. Rates for the Ifugao hut rental is a lot pricier than their regular rooms but if you want the the full Batad experience, sleeping in a Ifugao hut is a must. If you are worried about your things, the staff will provide a padlock and will teach you how to lock the door from the inside and from the outside. However, the staff highly insists that their guests bring their valuables with them whenever they leave their huts. If you're staying in the hut, also take note that there is no electricity there therefore be prepared with your flashlights and lamps in the evening. As for the view, if you're wondering if you can get a glimpse of the grand rice terraces from Ramon's Homestay, my answer is yes. Definitely yes. Ramon's Homestay provides a full and open view of the rice terraces. So close you may think you're staring at a wallpaper rather than the real landscape. Food options in this place are very few and quite expensive based on the fact that supplies are hard to come by. Bringing your own food and baon to Ramon's Homestay is allowed so carry as much as you can especially water. Just don't forget to dispose of your trash properly. Overall, if you truly want to experience and feel the whole of Batad, Ramon's Homestay will be your best bet. Definitely recommending Ramon's Homestay.

Great view of the Batad rice terraces. I gave four stars for facilities and cleanliness considering the standards existing in Batad. Of course I don’t expect facilities found in hotels in the cities. Batad being in a remote area. I love the view overlooking the village down and the surrounding terraces over a cup of Ifugao brewed coffee. Had a great conversation with the father of the owner about their culture. Friendly staff. Food was good.

The manager welcomed our group with their native local rice cake :-) She also granted my request for another set of blankets because we are not used to cold temperature. They also offered our group native boiled huge size of "Kamote" Sweet potato and native coffee before leaving their pension house. Do not EXPECT 5* Class accommodations in Batad because it's location cannot even be reached by Vehicles, and If you want to order sea foods sorry to disappoint you that you are in the wrong place (hello?! you're in the middle of mountains!!!) also If you hear noises from roosters early in the morning don't be surprise!. It's not AMERICA or EUROPE so don't expect you'll be welcomed by luxury and do a research first before going there to avoid disappointments. Do understand that the location and daily living of people there is somewhat a bit primitive. One more thing, there's no Cell Site in the area so you can't use your mobile phones and NO WIFI too. No Private Bathroom too so meaning you will use a common CR.

The guest house arranged for us to be fetched at the bus station. Koreen is conveniently located in the center of town where there are many decent places to eat at ranging from local, Chinese, to Western food. It's also right beside the Police Station, and is across the trike terminal where you could rent a trike for the whole day. The market, bakery, and grocery stores are all also within walking distance. The room we had was for 4 and it had a full window with a partial view of Banaue Rice Terraces. We love that it had a fancy dining table where we dined on food we bought from the nearby diners. So we ate with a view all the time. The beds were comfortable, and rooms were well ventilated. Twas quite cold in June when we there. We barely used the electric fan. Would definitely recommend and stay here again next time we go back.

1 TV at the Lobby, no power plugs in the rooms (too much abuse by Backpackers?), closes at 8pm (as all stores), 10pm is curfew. This is the result of the Mayors, who want no noise/troubles in the village. The hotel is almost innocent. Charging is available (free for guests!), the food is affordable and as good as other places that was higher rated! The Ifugaos are a shy folk, but after a small nice talk the are so friendly and helpful. At Halfway Lodge the most journeys/trips start. Charlie, a relative of the family can guide you very well. We paid PHP 1700.

Excellent! Happy with the place, the very welcoming hosts, the native food and it really does have the best view in town! In my opinion, the view is even better than the Banaue Rice Terraces. Place just lacks an automatic water heater and its own TV set in the room but if you're in for the simple, traditional lifestyle, then you're good to go! I also love the silence & serenity of the place. If you're looking to spend a quiet retreat, then this is perfect. The hosts were kind enough to bring us around, introduce us to the locals, give us a peek into ifugao culture and set up our tours. It's just a little bit hard to find so call them for direction :)

Though you will need to walk around 30mins to reach the inn, the location is really exceptional as it sits in the heart of Batad. What we liked the most is how accommodating the owners are and the view of Rice Terraces. Kuya Romy and Ate Ruby are very kind and they even gave us tips on how to commute around Banaue and Sagada. The rate for the room and tour is very affordable. We spent 1000 pesos for Tappiya Water Falls and Awa View Deck which is good for 4 persons - a lot of trekking is required to reach those places. They also have a 2-year-old dog named Digong who joined us during the tour! :) NOTE: No signal. No internet. Water and Food is kind of expensive, though the food taste really good. I suggest you contact the owner regarding the booking. All in all, it was a very nice place to stay in Batad!
