Where to stay in Sabah State
Sabah State hotels & accommodations
The bedroom was a little off compared to the other HH Hotels in the region in terms of quality but it is still still one of the best in Sabah. Staff are friendly and very helpful. I will come back on my next trip. Plan your trip early so you can get the best value for $$$. Winston
Spent a week in the spa suite apartments for the family and we absolutely enjoyed ourselves. The location was ideal for those seeking to get away from the busy city, while still remain close to amenities. We rented a car at affordable rates from a local car rental company, and used a mobile app called WAZE to get around - driving around was easy since the app had the...
We live in courtyard which on the 7th floor, It's a room in a middle of rooms. So the view is the passageway of the opposite rooms. We love x2 single bed, it's so comfy. I just hope that TV channels have HBO & MTV. We love the breakfast choices. It's very unfortunate we didn't get to sit near the view (since it's rooftop). We love how the attraction area which is the w...
It was with much contemplation when I decided to stay at the Hyatt Regency Kinabalu during my recent vacation to Sabah. I had a very bad experience with the Hyatt Regency in Kuantan but I decided to go ahead due to the mostly positive reviews on Tripadvisor and other review sites. I am glad to report that my stay at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu was a wonderful experience. ...
the hotel offers transport between the 2 bedroom suites (about 3 kms away) and the main hotel accommodation/reception, but i think a car is a must if you want to have a look around the area. we hired a car at the airport and used it for the week to visit the various attractions around sabah. there was no problems driving around in a hire car and it provided us with loa...
The hotel/resort is a very very beautiful place... very quiet and tranquil.. The only drawback was that the resort is quit far from the main city.. Food is good especially the one where we dine at "TEPI LAUT".. The room is spacious and I really appreciate the mini pool by the balcony.. Staffs are helpful and very attentive.. If it weren't for the distance between the m...
we went there as part of our honeymoon trip, we stayed in the palm villa for 4 nights, it is their best room and it is something you shouldn;t miss. the breakfast comes to you by boat, the view from the room is wow; you can easily jump to snorkel from you own deck, the swimming pool is small and cold though (in the pictures it looked much bigger); the staff are wonderf...
Most nearest hotel to Suria Sabah, just opposite shopping mall called Suria Sabah, right located at the end of town. Very clean, comfort room, good in guest service, convenience to go around in town also. Only less than 15 minutes to international airport and 1-2 minutes to walk to Suria Sabah shopping mall. One of the luxury hotel in sabah. Thanks.
I stayed at the Hotel Grandis for two nights with my family of four. We booked a deluxe family room and requested a higher-floor room. Our room was on 11/F with a side view of the ocean which was great. Make sure you request a higher- floor room 'coz you won't be able to get any views if you're at the lower floors as the hotel is right next to the Suria Sabah Mall. In ...
That is the best part of my ten days in Sabah. When I first come into the lobby, I like the hotel at once. Then swimming pool and gym give me the excellent feeling, because the convenient designing and wonderful view of the sea. In the evening, I can enjoy delicious food with the paradise sound-piano playing by a handsome middle aged man, I hope I can have another chan...
For what you pay, this 3-star hotel offers excellent value. Although the furniture is scuffed and the toilet (depending on the room you get) can be a little small, both room and toilet are clean, and the bed is comfortable. For those who like their television, do note that there are very limited channels. For light sleepers, do note that noises from the hallway are aud...
Extremely pleased with my stay here. Reception staff was extremely friendly and helpful on all manners. It’s a fairly new hotel, hence everything else in a good condition. 5 min walking distance to jetty if you are planning for island hopping. There is a mall nearby known as Suria Sabah and down the road there is a street known as Gaya street. It’s a must to visit thei...
Sabah Beach Villas and Suites is always exceptional. The staff were once again very kind and accommodating. The housekeeping did a amazing job cleaning our room and accommodated our awkward schedule accordingly. We stayed in the same room as last year and all of the minor issues from the previous year had been fixed. The beach is right in front of the property and has ...
We booked two rooms, and one room was not ready, not until 4pm. This is the one and only 3 star hotel in Semporna, and given the price it is a pretty good deal. The room is of decent space, with a tiny bathroom. It has a small swimming pool with slides; kids definitely enjoy it. A bar that closes at 2am in the morning. Only took breakfast in the hotel, price is ch...
Still the best choice for me whenever i’m travelled to Sabah. Strategic location, friendly staffs and easy access to shopping mall, eateries and also convenient stores. Hope the property maintain its service standards and also facilities. Thanks.
scenery is beautifull. everything is superb.just a food need to improve thats it. sabah boleh.bangga sya org sabah bwa kluarga dri smnnjung. 😊👌
actually this is the best choice hotel in sabah, kota kinabalu. the value of charge is worth as service and room is good. we can say is 3 stars charge but 5 stars hotel service and room design is modern and comfortable. also many restaurants around this hotel and the sunday market just infrant the street. only the problem is house keeping. the day we stay in excutiv...
It was a really comfortable stay. The service is great and the staff were really professional. I'm not too happy because they didn't let each room have a kettle. But on each level, near the lift, there's a water cooler if you need water hot, warm and cold. The ironing facility is also located at the same place. So, all is good I think. The hotel is located near l...
It was my first time vacation at semporna, sabah. All about services at dragon inn I was very satisfied but in rural areas dragon inn there's still have a rubbish floating coming from nearby towns. I hope the relevant authorities will solve this problem because the city view and ocean beautiful become unsightly. its also give effect at dragon inn view.so,for the best fe...
Everything is good about this hotel especially regarding its location. It is located inside the Warisan Square area, Starbucks is just right in front of the hotel, Centrepoint Sabah is on the left side of the hotel (with just few walk) and the newly Oceanus Mall is also near the hotel. The cleanliness and its facilities are rather good and the staff is really friendly....
we had a very enjoyable stay. comfortable rooms, conveniently located near the airport (less than 10 mins) for early morning flights. best buffet breakfast i've ever had...lots of choices; malay,indian,chinese/japanese and western. you won't want to leave the dining room!! comfortable pool area; covered bar area with super comfortable sofa-like seats;very breezy, nice v...
It was a last minute choice for me to stay at this hotel since other hotels were mostly fully booked. Good location, the biggest shopping mall in Sabah is located at this place (just 30-40 steps). Cleanliness of the room was not compromised. Basic hotel toiletries and coffee were provided. Dont expect too much.
It is not my first time in Sabah, and I had stayed with this host and accommodation before as from my previous experience of staying here as well as the positive words from my peers and friends, I know that I just had to stay at the same place again. And boy I was not wrong in making the decision to stay back at the same place. The host, Mr Nicholas Vun was as graciou...
this hotel is much better than another hotel i stayed with almost the same price. the hotel is conveniently located near some shopping malls ,travel agencies, convenient stores and some overnight food stores are right round the corner. this is a location even better than those at 'city centre' around the night market because the area of best western is cleaner and wi...
Location is top notched. In the vicinity of many famous food shops and cafes. Right outside of the Gaya Street Sunday market. 5 minutes drive away from Centrepoint, 10 minutes drive away from Sabah Art Gallery and the Sabah State Museum. Service was amazing! Was upgraded to a bigger room for free. Bell boys were always there to open the door and greet you with a smile....
Lovely hotel with good facilities, friendly staff & good prompt service. Only location is a little far from Kota Kinabalu town. But have one borneo mall, which was more than sufficient for our shopping or dining needs, but could increase in Sabah products whether food, clothes, accesories, decorative items, etc. (to specify clearly it is Sabah products). Hotel Foo...
it was nearby jetty with walking distance, advantage for those who want to visit those island, eg sapi island, manukan island and so on. it's also surrounded by shopping mall, those included wisma merdeka, borneo sabah, wisma warisan and many. it is also many dining restaurant, include bak kut teh and famous sabah food. the hotel staff provided good service to us. and ...
Cheap places to stay in Sabah State
always our first choice when having busines trip to sabah
Top 3 Things I enjoyed the most at my stay: 1. The location is an excellent spot to everything. Everything is "walkable" from the place. You can go to the Suriah Sabah Mall for some shopping, grocery shopping at KK Plaza, Adventure at Jesselton Point, or take a bus at the Padang Merdeka. It is the center of all the city tour you need to do when going to Kota Kinabalu...
I was stay here in groups (5 Peoples), we using mix dormitory room with Air Conditioner and 3 fan. Room was really clean, fresh and this hostel has a good staff. Wifi was sucks because i stayed 6 night its always Disconnect. Bathroom and shower was good, i met a lot of nice travelers from china, malay, phillipines, england etc ... Breakfast is a toast with strawberry ...
we have been backpacking for 7 months and this is one of the best hostels we have come across. the service is excellent and the people who work here couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. they actually gave us some transport information which saved us time and money that the sabah tourism office didn't give us. the rooms are basic, bed, desk, chair and fan but c...
I spent the New Year in Skypod and I'm glad I did. The staff are extremely nice, engaging, funny, and will try their best to accommodate your needs. And this was the best part of my stay because I met really good people. They - Callvya, Farah, Pricilla, Nor, and Chichi - really know how to make you feel at home. As for the hostel, this was actually the first time for ...
Of course it is a great place to stay. The staffs are nice and friendly. The bed is very comfy and it is a strategic place to stay. Near to the Todak Waterfront where you can find fresh seafood and near to Suria Sabah Mall. Oh, its also near to Jesselton Jetty for island hopping! But during my stay there is water shortage on the first and second day. Nonetheless, every...
Staying at Sea View pretty much MADE my visit to Sandakan. (As I've since talked with others who booked other Kinabatangan river tours and didn't see HALF what I did) I do believe I owe my gazillion pics of more than a half dozen wild PIGMY ELEPHANTS to Sea View Backpackers Hotel. The price for my 3 day 2 night trip was far less than other tours, and the owner of Sea...
I initially booked for a service apartment in Likas area but cancelled it for Hood Borneo instead. I took the private room which ia good for 2 people (but still big enough for 2) with a huge restroom as well. Conveniently located at heart of the city (Jalan Pantai) just parallel to Jalan Gaya. Just a few meters away from the bus stop for buses coming from KK. Hotel st...
Overall it beyond my expectation with the amount money i pay per night (rm23 a night). Thing that surprised me: 1) It come with a big locker, it can fit my 2 backpack without problem. Key is given, dun need to bring Padlock Thing that wish Fat Rhino to have 1) Access card- The key need to share among four roommate, need to have mutual agreement that the last people t...
I want to thank the staff of Stay-In Lodge for accommodating my unusual need for a room with no wi-fi intrusion. They took me from room to room until I could find one with a good environment I could tolerate. As a result, my stay there was comfortable. This is not a fancy hotel, but not everyone needs fancy. It is a good deal for the price. Regarding food, there were g...
Great location, just across Centrepoint Sabah, and the breakfast was amazing, they really serve a true breakfast. The place feels so homey and is very clean, I also love the fact that they place curtains in the bed to add a little bit of privacy in the dorms. And the boss lady, which I thought at first was Chinese, treats her guests like her own children, very caring a...
Stayed for 2 nights. Pro- -staffs are friendly -wifi ok, not that fast, maybe becoz weather wasnt so good -on saturday, there are street market just downstairs. When I move in the room, saw aircon water leaking. Was fixed after complained made. Comfortable and cozy, even though its a backpacker hostel. Hot & cold water dispanser, free coffee powder at the pantry. Washing machine and iron & ironing area for our laundry. Free strong WIFI. Free towel, soft blenket. Friendly and capable staff. I think their staff is multitask...
It is a good place to stay for backpacker and those who want budget traveling. The hotel is located at center of the town of Kota Kinabalu. The staff of the hotel quite nice and service my friend and i with a smile most of the time, simply say quite friendly.Eventhough the room of the hotel quite small but it is convenient for both of us to sleep. We also can online with...
Best hostel in KK. Location is perfect, close to all the good food on Gaya street (Yee Fung Laksa is a must try). Good atmosphere to meet fellow travelers. Extremely nice and helpful staff. I ended up staying for 2 weeks due to my departing flight changes and I couldn't have asked for a better place to crash!
I had booked a single room and got a really spacious room for the price. Clean toilets and showers with hot water. a small hostel so not too many people in the place. My room had a cupboard and 2 multipurpose plugs so no hassle in charging electronics.Bedding and towel provided.... The common area is well designed and brightly lit with full glass walls so it feels ca...
You don't want to pay expensive rate for accommodation if you're planning to enjoy what Sabah can offer - islands, beaches, shopping, seafood, mountains, sightseeing, etc.
This hotel is located at a great location. It is clean and the staff are friendly. Breakfast (bread, coffee/tea, fruits, cereal and even Malaysia roti canai) is provided. What I did during breakfast was sipping a cup of coffee at the balcony while enjoying the morning breeze and looking at sights of the morning crowd. Great feeling. The room is a little bit small and h...
despite there's changes in ownership of this lodge, their service and staff are still tip top. best service ever! thank you for the great hospitality and yummy foods. dear tom yum lover, do try their seafood tom yum. i guarantee the satisfaction.
My stay to Atine hostel was absolutely pleasant. The house is very clean and beds are just so comfortable! (You get two pillows). The room has aircon and lockers, every bed has his own lamp, plug and a little basket. There are also curtains that separe the 4 bunkbeds :)Tea, coffee and water are complimentary, as well as toiletries! You can use the fridge, microwave etc......
It's all good. The house is spacious and comfortable. Balcony provides BBQ equipment, folding table mahjong, carrom board. There is a NJOI TV broadcast. Hot Shower works well. Downside, this 3 bedroom suite (RM700+) is not supplied with 3in1 or drinking water. Even cheap hotels will provide basic stuff like that. But sure We'll come again next time. TQ!
We were so glad we chose to stay at this backpackers. We were welcomed with huge smiles. The rooms and bathrooms were really clean. We booked our kinabatangan river tour through them as they have their own tour office (Borneo Sandakan Tours) and when comparing prices with other travellers it seems we got the best deal! Would definitely recommend you book this tour thro...
We enjoyed this place! Very relaxed, casual, kampung style stay (basic amenities but clean). River 5 minutes walk down road. Kids loved playing with the kittens. The aunty will cook you breakfast for RM8 if you tell her the night before. More shops back outside Pouring Springs if you're looking for dinner otherwise bring everything you need - cooking facilities availab...
This premise is right where the Gaya street market starts & within walking distance to Pasar Filipin, Todak monument & many more attractions. The staff are friendly and they help us to book the ticket to Manukan Island for a better deal. I will come back here again if I need to stay for long period in Kota Kinabalu.
I love to travel~ the most important thing for me is Cleanliness & Comfortable place to rest~ Well what I recommend is this ISLAND BACKPACKER. The cleanliness is TIP TOP, staffs are friendly, and the price is very cheap and reasonable. Island Backpackers are near with the food stall, bank and so convenient.
I would suggest this place for backpackers who want to go to the jetty.its only 10mins of walk.and very near to suria sabah(a big shopping mall) .its peaceful and safe at night.and during midnight ,there is old town white coffee n few other fast food place thats open.except the weird smell of aircond everytime we enter the room, everything else is perfectly fine and wor...
The parking fee at Warisan Square is the only killers! RM5 for 3hours which is consider quite expensive in Sabah!
everything was perfect...cheap price and good bedroom, and also all of the facilities....this hostel was the best of best, the best hostel i stay in kk. I have change 6 hotel during kk, and i was disappointed that i dint book this hotel for 10 days, and i just book it for 1 days....aishh.....
A great stay here, so quiet and peaceful. Definitely not a walkable distance from the bus stop, but their free shuttle bus takes you to the orangutans and picks you up again so that makes life very easy. Bedroom was quiet, loved the "outdoor" bathroom. Food was good with a different menu each night of the week. Staff really helpful and they booked us on a great 3D/2N t...

I booked to stay 1 night at the Promenade after I had travelled around Sabah for 5 nights. There were only the rooms on the Club Lounge floor available at the time of my booking. After checking in and upon entering our rooms, we realised the we had been given 2 single beds. We went back to the officer (Cennedie) who checked us in to request for a room with either a Que...

during the period we stayed, is good, only transportation charges is more, because every time go out should take taxi, maybe can increase the shettle bus schedule time. about the SPA room, I think is better not only for massage, but also for facial, nail fresh, body spa, etc. then will be more better. anyway, I will promot to my friends, and next time visit SABAH, will...
Very clesn, spacious rooms. Good facilities in rooms. Staff helpful. Nice steam room and jacuzzi. Shopping centre, atm next door. Breakfast - good. Buffet on Thursday night had nothing for vegetarians except rice and vegetables. Better on Friday night. This hotel has everything except its own pool. Staff told me clients can use one at Kumara Court. Good...
It's been some time since I set foot in Kota Kinabalu and hubby decided that we go on a spontaneous weekend trip (15-17 July 2011) with our 8-year old daughter and our best friends (a couple) who were on their first trip to East Malaysia. No mountaineering and far-away parks, just food and short getaways and relaxation kinda trip. Hubby has stayed in Beverly before fo...
we made a great choice staying at the horizon hotel. it was in the heart of kk, a 10 minute walk from centrepoint sabah, suria sabah and restaurants like little italy, burger king and old town white coffee. we chose the city view as based on reviews, the seaview was blocked by the old post office. and lucky for us, the gaya christmas celebration was being held during o...
I was impressed with the facilities of the hotel; comfortable beds, stunning swimming pool, great gym etc. this hotel also connected with an old shopping mall, you can get to find open-air halal restaurant but the food are quite pricey. there's nothing much shops in the shopping mall, mostly Malay fashion boutiques, shoes shops and handphone gadgets shop. It's a great ...
Went for a 4D3N trip at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Did alot of research while planning for the trip but seemed to be inadequate upon reaching. Pleasant surprise at the airport was the free shuttle service to the hotel thus saved RM40 :) Hotel was fantastic with a shopping mall beside it. But hotel indeed quite a distance from the city centre and taxi rides to city centre co...
It is only 20 minutes walking to the centre. It is our second time in Sabah; we love it. This hotel is perfect for a good price; buffet breakfast and dinner handy and good. One evening a la carte and that was amazing!!!
The best choice! Located in the middle of ocean reef - beautiful place to spend time at. Accessable in and out only via boat. Basic facilities support your needs for beach/ ocean lovers. Who needs a TV when u can splurge urself with the scenic endless view of the open ocean! Beautiful. Food was superb even they provide the simplest menu - tasty and just nice. Resort st...
need ~30 minutes drive from airport to these resort (free parking). checked-in quickly with nice staff. the room was clean & tidy and big enough especially the toilet. free wifi at the lobby. the breakfast was great which sat beside the beach. the swimming pool also clean. i will back to these resort if visit sabah again.
Sabah Hotel impresses me each time I stay this is the second time and fortunately we had a day off on the second day so we could relax by the pool after breakfast which was an extensive buffet with a seperate menu also available. We took one of the taxis from the hotel that works out of it after negotiating a very nice rate the day before to bring us to the POW Memoria...
This hotel well exceeded my expectations. It is very nice and clean. Has a nice swimming pool and gym as well. The only drawback is its location. A bit far from the city center. However, the nice staff and good facilities well make up for this only one drawback. There is a kind of new small open mall (or business area) located next door called "Metro Town". Got ...
We had a wonderful stay ending up staying alot longer than expected. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, pool and comfortable rooms with fox movie channel. We are backpacking for a few months and took a break from the cheep hostels so this hotel was heaven for us. The service is over all very good with one exception, one of the pool boys that seemed unwilling to provide t...
I went to KK in a group of 3 so we needed a big space like Bayu Suite's size (2 bedroom with 3 beds). Location is strategic as it is just 5 mins away from the city. You may have to tell your uber driver that Bayu Suite is also known as Sky Hotel & it located behind Maybank.
Cleanliness is very important. The place still new so perhaps no problem with the clealiness. Thank you to agoda for offering a very cheap rates for me. I've to cancel from other Online agent due to Price issue. I paid less what i expected. I will definately use Agoda for future booking. Friendly staff and very efficient. I called many times but the person ( IAN ) are...
Theres no iron stand and baby cot provided and a place to hang clothes.
Overall is good based on the friendliness of the owner and cleanliness of the place. Its just its quite hard to grab a taxi or Grab to / from airport to the place.
Pros: Security guards everywhere, restaurants nearby, fast wifi, TV channel is clear compare to some that offered the same price, ample parking spaces and are still free, close to the city Cons: Aeropods still not fully construted. Gateway to the parking place is sometimes close, have to move around and pass the gravel before we can get into the building. The only ru...
We got an upgrade to a huge room with kitchen - Otter's House! View is awesome: lush greenery, sunset at the west, Kota Kinabalu night view, all from within the room! Sinurambi has a swimming pool facing west for sunset view, narrow path leading to small orchard, they even have snooker and table tennis as leisure. we even observed 1 of the best sunrise at the east side...
Everything is great with this apartment. Free access to private parking, high speed internet, clean environment, and good staff/host. Checkin/out process is easy since it is self checkin/out. The apartment is close to the pool, if you have small children trying to sleep the people at the pool can be loud. It's not so much problem for us. On the good side, the pool loo...
There was a problem in the bathroom door but the host came really fast to fix the problem. Also the room was well designed
satisfy, price is cheap, rooms was big enough for group vacation. very recommended
Stephen and his wife were great in ensuring we had a good stay. The apartment was very cosy and comfortable. Kids loved the pool and their beds. Amenities were a walk away. The pool had an OK view of the sunset (not full sunset though). Many thanks to Stephen's family for a wonderful holiday. Hope to be back again for Kundasang, KK and Eastern Sabah... Would recommen...

It’s affordable place, close to hosp likas and UMS. Place is clean but can get dirty if somehow you end up staying with a sloppy tenant at the same time. Not sure how strict the owner is because the place is no smoking but somehow there’s other tenant casually smoke in living room. There’s few CCTV in the house. During my booking i notice that there’s a lot of accomoda...

My wife and I stayed at Bunga Raya for a relaxing end to our two week holiday in Sabah. Once we emerged from the floating ocean waste near the water villages and turned around the far end of the island we found a totally different scene, it was fairly clean and the island forest dominant. We were disappointed that we spent some time swimming in the bay expecting coral ...
We had a good stay in the apartment. Check in and out was flexible and quick. When the first room smelled of smoke, we got a new one at once. The pool and rooftop terrace has an amazing view and is a great reason to stay in this apartment. The location is not the best for going into town, but it is close to the airport, and grab cars are easily available. Some of t...
I brought my family to stay at sabah Holiday Homes @ Imago (Also known as the Loft Residence there). We knew the location is a little far off from the KK town but we didn't expect it's so isolated from everything! However thats the reason we choose this location becuase to avoid the usual tourists hotel. There's no check in counter where the host text us and we can go in the apartment after telling the arrival time. It looks like deserted resort at first but when we...
This room is at front of the IMAGO mall so location is so good. But If u want to go IMAGO, u have to cross the road. This road is a four lane highway. I recommand just take taxi(U can walk but maybe die And room was clean but I gave star only 4. Because theres a little bit humidity. But host was very kind And facility is good. And if I go KK again surely choice this ...
It’s located between jetty and Seria. Both are two minutes walk away. New condo with big pools. We enjoyed to stay there. Thank you Vall !
1)awesome place to stay 2)love the view 3)clean 4)comfortable 5) Irene is nice..quick respond when we need/ask her.. This apartment is perfect!
Facilities were adequate. However, since the unit faces the evening sun, it is a bit warm and one of the air conditioning units were out of order.
The host (Ann) is very helpful and kind. She responded to our queries attentively. The seaview apartment unit given to us is very clean, tidy, with complete kitchenware and washing machine, all in best condition, that has made our 3 night stay at ease, comfy and relaxing, since the unit is facing the ocean. Waking up to those view is mesmerizing. Im traveling with a g...
Great location, shopping mall below with lots of cuisines. Convenient e-hailing.
