It is just not any ordinary hotel f...

We really enjoyed our stay. The location of the hotel is probably the best in Zanzibar: the ocean is good to swim, the beach is picturesque. We liked the hotel area and service, the staff members were very friendly and helpful. Meals were a bit pricey, but there are many dining places within 5-minutes walk by the beach.

I was extremely impressed with the 3 nights I spent at the Zanzibar Grand Palace. The room was excellent with good facilities and very comfortable. The hotel is fantastically designed and the rooftop restaurant is a wonderful spot. The location is great being close to both Forodhani Gardens and Darajani Markets but being very peaceful and quiet. I had a wonderful stay ...

We were very happy and the staff made us welcome, but the food variety is not so great apart from the Gala dinner and the Zanzibar dinner. The breakfast variety on milk and cereal was very limited. they ran out of skimmed milk as well as all bran flakes. they need to improve on their display of food especially breakfast and tea. the eats for morning and afternoon...

My wife and I flew into Zanzibar and spent our first 3 days in Stone Town The first night Tembo put us in the Tembo Apartments which is in a separate building across the street without a view of the Zanzibar Channel. The desk manager promised to move us and the next 2 nights we were in Room 026 which was a fantastic corner suite with balcony overlooking the Channel. Te...

Villa Fleur De Lys is an awesome place to relax and gives you amazing views of the ocean. The staff has been very welcoming and friendly. It started with Zoe after the booking, she is quick to respond and even arranged a last minute ferry pick-up for us. Abdullah, our transport, waited patiently in the terminal - very professional and car is clean and well maintained...

The hotel was very nice and the food was lovely (especially on local night). But the best thing about this hotel was the staff. They were so lovely, helpful and kind all the times! You can also book trips there. The hotel is right at the beach and the view is outstanding!

We have been in the new wing of Zanzibar Ocean BLue for 16 nights. The new wing is close to the other resort. It has large clean rooms, all with sight-seeing. The resort has a large swimmingpool with poolbar. Because we were the only guests the swimmingpool-bar was closed but the waitress came every hour to ask or we want something to drink of eat. The staff isvery h...

Perfect location for a kitesurfing holiday, great beach, great atmosphere thx to the Kite Paradise School next door. If you want an "authentic" Stone Town hotel, that's not the DoubleTree. But if you want a clean, comfortable, lovely place that caters to your every need - all for less than $100/night - stay here. I've stayed here on both trips to Zanzibar and Id stay again. The view from the top floor restaurant is beautiful, the hotel is peaceful and quiet, the staff truly wonderful...

I would recommend Zanzibar Beach Resort as a business and leasure destination. It is a beautiful location and conveniently close to the airport and to Stone Town (a must visit). The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would like to commend the Resort Manager, Chief-chef, waitress and waitresses as well and specifically Mr Sinyal at Reception, for all your ...

this is really a lovely resort, with two restaurants, friendly staff (although they are partly friendly because they want your tips...) and nice rooms. Our room (E33) was new and very modern. My big problem was, that it had white curtains - so a lot of light in the room as soon as the sun rises... This really bothered me... Other than that we had a great time - nice h...

I found this place very near to all services and in the hub of city capital Stone Town. Spacious rooms, traditional Zanzibari furniture, quiet at for good night sleep, very helpful and welcoming staff, immaculately cleaned and maintained, well managed property at a low budget rates for all sorts of visitors. Great reception and stay with true Zanzibari hospitality at...

Indigo beach is, hands down, the most beautiful hotel in the area. As two young women we felt very safe and welcome in the town of Bwejuu. The staff took excellent care of us and were extremely kind and friendly. Everyday, different dinner options were offered. Main course, alone, was enough to satisfy our hunger. If we wanted to be around more people, staff at recepti...

We are a 51 year married couple who escape winter in the U.S. by taking a couple of month long trips to some place warm. This year it was Africa where we began our trek in JoBurg and ended in Zanzibar. While we had great safari experiences the biggest treat was the Mahali. The setting was beautiful, the staff friendly, and it was a complete world. The rooms were sp...
Cheap places to stay in Zanzibar Urban/West

We chose to change locations from airbnb to the hostel as it was a bit more afford able., when we arrived we were made aware that we had to pay an additional per Person as a City tax which is not stated beforehand. Ended up paying 30dol. For a 7qm room which was next to the toilets and loud. Staff is super and helpful, locations is great.

It was good for my two nights stay in Stone Town; bed was comfy, toilets didn't have plumbing problems and were supplied with soap and TP, the guests were quiet and nice. I also loved the location. But internet connection went out a couple of times, the AC was down for a full day but got eventually fixed and there was a power outage in one morning. They didn't take cr...

Very nice and laid back chilled place, I was made to feel at home as soon as I got there, walked in right as it was bbq night. The staff are very helpful and kept the beer flowing. Very close to the beach and all the other bars restaurants. Would gladly recommend to my friends and anybody else

Very nice and clean rooms/bathrooms. Staff is great and so is the location. Having a breakfast facing the ocean is a very good way to start the day. If you’re a light sleeper, the dorm room can be noisy in the morning as people live next door and start making noise early in the morning. Also I thought the food was a bit pricey. But overall very nice stay.

Authentic guest house on the heart of Stone Town. If you wanna feel you are in Tanzania, is a good option. Is not a 5 stars hotel, but is a 5 stars really nice experience of a Zanzibar’s life. If you travell to feel like home, that’s the place! Thanks and we will come again!

The pictures caught my eyes, when i was looking for a simple place to stay on the island. And it was as beautiful as shown. The bungalows itself are simple, just a bed with a net and a shelf. But you can sit in front of it in a hammock overlooking this wonderful idyllic place. We prebooked for 3 nights and ended up staying 6!

This Value for money accommodation is well located 100m from the sea, not directly at the beach, second line. Hospitality of owner is enormous... She's from Europe, so she is very helpful to all tourists, you can learn from her about locals, offers cheap water and basic kitchen. Expect small family style house, max 6-8 people in property.

This place is everything. I must say i started missing it the moment i left. Staff is very friendly, swimming pool is great and gorgeous beach just across the street. Facilities are shared but cleaner than most accomodations that i stayed. Guys at the bar ar the best, especially Saidi the cocktail master :* If i’m coming back, i’m definitely staying again in Demani!

This place has beautiful scenery, staff were extremely helpful to ensure we had a great relaxing experience and very friendly! This place is for people who like to chill out and just enjoy the island life! You can go snorkeling, swimming with dolphins or just chill out at the hotel property... at night they have a campfire that you can sit around under the amazing star...

An inexpensive, perfectly located, clean and charming little hotel. The wifi is only available in the lovely rooftop breakfast area, which I really liked because it kept my internet time limited to necessity so I could get out and explore! All of my interactions with the staff were very pleasant, they were approachable and helpful but not intrusive. They helped me arra...

Pros: Nice staff, good free breakfast (even though the bread was a little bit mouldy two out of five mornings), felt safe, the room was cleaned halfway through the stay, the bed was comfortable, very close to the beach and the turtle aquarium. One night I saw the owner walking a girl to the beach because she was scared to walk alone in the dark so that was nice! Cons:...

I booked a double room with air condition but after checkin he said I upgraded your room and showed a wooden hut like room with fan I asked I booked ac room he said ac is not working need to call technician like that if ac not working means he have to return my money but he simply said no room like that I felt that I'm helpless so I left without staying there totally ...

I absolutely love and recommend this place! Albert and Britta (owner of this place) are very welcoming and friendly. The rooms are cosy and tidy. The bungalows are not far from the beach, 6 minutes away from the beach. The restaurant is really good and cheap as well. Thank u for everything! :)

We could really recommend this hotel. As jambiani is not that touristic place like nungwi for example. But that’s how it makes it quite nice. Calm cosy and beautiful. Beach is not that crowded and very beautiful. About the hotel I can not tell any bad thing. Really perfect stay Rooms are clean, AC is working fine, bathroom has everything you need. Come there and enjoy...

This place is really a special little oase. The garden is lovely, filled with different flowers and plants. The staff makes you feel at home right away. I have travelled a lot in Africa, so I'm sure when I say, that this place is really something special.

3 couples over 60 stayed in Chwaka Bay Resort May 7 to 20, 2016. Hotel management improoved comparing previous views. Staff helpfull and nice to you - client must talk to them free with smiles. Always use greeting ..JUMBO.. - it opens the dor / dont be nervous even after long journey. Rooms for price are OK, from time to time ask hotel reception for repairs as hotel ...

Good value for money bungalow with everything you need to have a pleasant stay and a staff listening to all your needs. The rooms are small but cosy and the bathroom is nicely decorated with local materials. The location is not far from the beach/fishing village where all the activity is. Don't miss the moment when all the villagers gather around the fishermen at the...

Wonderful spot on the other side of the island. The staff was super helpful and friendly. The hotel itself was perfect. The access to the beach and pool had such a nice vibe to it. The food at the restaurant was delightful. Definitely a place to stay when in Zanzibar.

Restaurant, bar and lodge are beautiful with a very great view on the ocean. Everything is clean and made for your confort. Maybe too much, as room's maid come twice a day to clean the room (at night to close your curtain and open the mosquito net on the bed, even if you are in the room, which had been a bit intrusive for us) and service is sometimes a bit obsequious. ...

The reception is very professional and helpful. Our room was very spacious, room 101. Beautiful bathroom, comfortable bed and great daybed lounge for relaxing. Large flat screen tv with good movie channels! They spray the rooms in the evening during turn down service and put down the mosquito nets to ensure a mosquito free sleep. Thank god bc they love me! Not one sing...

It was lovely how Georgia and her family welcomed us and take good care of us during the 5 night stay. Being able to use facilities at her fathers hotel which is right on the beach was a great touch. The tours we booked was well planned and our driver Osmani was a reliable guy. My only advise would be to check taxes before going and take extra money for it. This is not...

We stayed here in January (just after New Year Eve). This place was chosen because it was high season and many hotels were fully booked. The price was more than reasonable (for the hotel with swimming pool) and we booked the room. Our room (triple) was big. It is located in front of the swimming pool. Furniture is OK (one double bed and one single bed with mosquito net...

I stayed there with my dad for two nights which had given me a inerasable memory. Nice staffs, clean room, amazing view and swimming pool. They serve high quality food with comparatively low price too. Dont forget to try seafood grill (35 pp but you will get more than you expect)

Lovely, brand new Hotel. Owners and staff were very friendly and provided plenty of information about Zanzibar. The food was very good! There is nothing bad to be said about this hotel! But you have to be aware that there is nothing much around! Still you can do trips an stuff from there.

I absolutely loved the property. In fact my partner & I agreed it was possibly the most beautiful hotel we'd ever been to. I've been to over 50 countries, and i can absolutely say, this property is spectacular. The villa, the private pool, the view, its all simply sensational! Moving onto the bar & restaurant. The bar made very nice Caipirinas, a tad expensive, but tas...

My wife and I stayed for one night at the beginning of our time in Zanzibar. We arrived at 10am, but we were able to check into our room immediately (it was late June, so not peak season). Our room was quite large and comfortable; the bathroom was very large with dual sinks and a bathtub/shower. The common areas of the hotel are nicely decorated and really give the ...

The food wasn’t the best( bread was stale and just seemed to be by the way) service in restaurant was really slow. WiFi was also not working in room. They hotel room was nice and the location wasn’t all bad. The hotel arreanged the hotel car for airport transfer but I felt the taxi waiting outside was safer and more reliable. Not good and reliable car drove us.

Value for money, the rooms, definitely "NO". Cleanliness, the bathrooms, definitely "NO".The superior room is small with a musty smell, was upgraded to a Deluxe room, little spacious, shower cubical small, pathetic, cracked plastic floor, black mildew around the tiles, taps terrible condition . A cockroach came out of the old fashioned wood. As for the mosquito curtain...

We came here on our trip around Africa. They had overbooked due to the full moon party the next night so tried originally to put us in staff quarters instead of the room we had booked. After a night though we were able to get moved to a nicer room which was night and day better. Full moon party was lots of fun and if thats your scene I would definitely recommend. If no...

Great location and hotel however the room had an awful smell of stale cigarette smoke. We should have asked to change rooms in hindsight but just put up with it. Otherwise, had a really enjoyable stay, using the hotel as a base to sleep only (also be prepared for early morning wake ups with the call to prayer)!

Villa Huruma offered a pristine experience. Located close to little shops, an ATM and of course most importantly to the beach. The pool area is beautifully designed and offers a great retreat in case it is too windy closer to the ocean. There are many restaurants close by, but the pasta for lunch is a must at Villa Huruma! Our room was clean and comfortable. The staff ...

My face and heart lit up when we walked in to Asmini Palace. This was the first place we stayed at in Zanzibar and we fell in love. Greeted with a cold juice and big smiles. We were treated so well by helpful and friendly staff, and we enjoyed every minute of being there. The room was clean and very special. We loved our dinner and breakfast on the roof top restaurant....

Stayed here for 2 nights. From the minute we stepped in, we were welcomed warmly like members of a small tribe. We even got a free room upgrade. You'll feel like you're in a small, private haven/community when you're inside. The vibe was very relaxing - a great start to our vacation. Wi-fi works fine. Breakfast spread is okay. Room amenities are not extensive but were ...

The resort is located on one of the most beautiful spot of Zanzibar, on the east coast coral reef the all-inclusive formula is very good value for the money: all is really included, food, sports, and animation staff number is very important and they are well trained and friendly

Overall we really enjoyed Bluebay Beach Resport and Spa. The staff are fantastic. A particular thank you to Joyce who went out of her way to make our stay special. Having spent some time on the East coast of Zanzibar, we decided to check into the Diamonds La Gemma dell'est for some luxury at an all inclusive resort.
