“Ryokan good on web but reality bites ”
Check in time was 3pm. We arrived early at 2pm but was not greeted with staff. To very tiny small lobby was full of owners’ personal stuff. No waiting area nor the air con was on. It was summer btw. Room was dirty with lots of dust. Those with dust allergy will suffer. At night cockroaches creep all over the place. We had our meal which was prepare by hotel staff. Food was good but the quantity wasn’t. The old lady always rush to collect the dishes while still eating. Location is terrible. Better stay at Hakone Yumoto station or Hakone-en for easier access. Those 2 places are accessible by bus from downtown Tokyo. Price was as expensive as 4-5 star ryokan. This is a 1 star ryokan. Avoid this place by all means.
