Stayed three nights here and the location was great and over all the value was good for the money . The breakfast was delicious with a good choice of western and Asian food . The hotel is showing its age though as the TV was old style and much of the room looked dated . I had to switch rooms because there were issues with the AC and the second room was at the back and was a little more quiet. These rooms were originally 2 level suits with living room on the first level and bedroom on the second level they must have been really nice back in the day . But they have changed the layout so it’s really strange you got this staircase to nowhere taking up a lot of the room and they they had to Jerry rig a washroom and put the sink in the bedroom. At any rate it was a funky place to stay it felt a little nostalgic .I did have major problems with the internet going on and off and having problems trying to connect . The staff here were very professional helping me my issues. I would recommend if you get a good price the room was clean and I slept well
Locally owned hotel that tries to position itself as greater than its capabilities, but they have improved a lot over the past few years. Don’t expect upgrades, don’t expect friendly receptionists. Do expect a friendly greeting and a helping hand at the front door. The guys and gal at the front are marvelous. Day and night with what you can expect checking in / out. Do expect a clean room, albeit with a strange layout, along with friendly room cleaners. The breakfast buffet is not too bad, a great improvement over what it used to be. Looks like they remodeled the 6th floor as well. The egg station is not friendly, and too many staff looking for things to do, but overall it is good food and good variety. Internet is still hit/miss, but decent enough. TV had not been reset so all the premium offers like Netflix and Youtube were still logged into a previous guests account. Location is ok, not great as you need to walk 10 or so minutes to the BTS. If it’s not hot or raining the walk is not bad. 7-11 nearby, good Brazilian Restaurant, few local places, and a 24h Italian place within 12-15 minute walk. Rooms are usually high floor so noise is not bad. You are in Bangkok so nothing is peaceful and quiet. Now the best part - coffee. They upgraded the coffee by adding a Dolce Gusto BUT they will only give you 1 coffee so you and your partner will need to flip a coin to see who gets it. Not joking. I called reception and after getting angry about 1 coffee for 2 people they informed me they would make a 1-day, 1-time exception. They best part, the boy told me twice his manager wanted to make it clear it was this time only and don’t ask again. When I asked to speak with the manager he refused. When I asked for the manager to call me that return call was never made. Makes no sense to me, to lose a guest because the hotel is too stingy to provide a second coffee pod for the second registered guest is just ridiculous. Few other points to mention * minimal elec points but that’s normal. If you need more bring an extension * if your partner needs a hair dryer she / he will have one without a plug near the mirror. Might not be a big deal, but it might be * Go a larger room if you are bulky size or you will struggle with getting past the tv on the wall in front of the bed * sink is outside the toilet BUT the shower is large. Guessing they made a sacrifice so you need to step out to wash your hands * same as above with brushing teeth, unless you are alone that act will be witnessed by the other guest in the room. Might not be an issue for people * Shower has a window, with curtain, visible from the bed. Again might not be an issue but it might be for some who want full privacy * lot of cabinet space but unless you have a lot of food it’s wasted * fridge is decent size * you will have only 2 bath towels. You will 100% sweat in BKK so if you take 2 showers a day and have 2 people in the room you may or may not have an issue * I’ve stayed in every type room they have and all have peculiar layouts. Duplex you get to drag your bags upstairs, basic you squeeze by the TV and have to contend with locked storage space behind TV. Premier rooms have a step-up which is not enjoyable if you need to get up in the night for the toilet. One of the upgraded rooms has a FULL window behind the tub, which can be interesting if you are a privacy advocate. The list goes on. Nothing too major, just quirky stuff. All-in, not bad but there are much better hotels right across the street at similar price points where you will be treated like an honored guest Vs just a visitor.
If a Quality breakfast and dedication to presenting the best food possible is important to you, You will be disappointed at the SCafe breakfast on 6th floor. Guaranteed food poising awaits you at SCafe 6th floor, do not eat there! I love the hotel itself, staff in reception, concierge and cleaning, location, swimming pool, glasshouse restaurant and premier rooms and above. Breakfast at SCafe on the sixth floor is a horror show. This is my 3rd stay at S31 this year, sadly it is my last as I do not want to die from food served at S cafe on the Sixth floor. This may sound over the top but let me explain, today I went to breakfast at 8am. The cafe had been open for 2 hours so you would expect everything to be perfect and food hot? Far from it, started with the fresh coffee machine being out of service so poured a coffee from the prepared coffee station. Young chef at egg station was not interested in interrupting his food prep to assist me standing waiting. Finally interrupted him for service which drew a negative response. Asked politely for 2 freshly fried eggs sunny side up and some bacon. Standard at any egg station worldwide right? Not here! I watched in horror as pre cooked cold fried eggs sitting on a plate were re heated on the grill then turned over making the yolks hard and overcooked. I put some noodles on my plate and put down at my table. Went to collect my freshly cooked fried eggs and bacon. Was handed the re heated overcooked eggs and 1 small strip of bacon. I stood there mouth open. A waiter noticed me and asked if everything was ok? In front of him I asked the chef if he had re heated the cold fried eggs? He said yes. The waiter looked shocked. The chef looked arrogant and said “you didn’t ask for freshly cooked!” Wrong I did and now I am a lier? The waiter apologised and I asked him if he knew what would happen if I ate the re heated eggs? Possibility of food poisoning and possibly death. He was shocked but understood. I returned to my table to stone cold noodles so they weren’t hot when I put them on my plate and stone cold coffee so must have been Luke warm when I poured it. I stood up and left, hungry and disgusted. 5 star hotel with a -5 star breakfast at S Cafe 6th floor!! Do not eat there!! Waiting until 10am when the glasshouse cafe on floor 8 opens. They are so friendly there and freshly cook everything there in the cafe. Or go to one of the many restaurants within a few minutes walk or the food court at Emsphire mall across the road.
I rented the Panorama room for the full moon. Looking out my window at night was like Disneyland with the neon lights, colorful paved sidewalk and Christmas light decorations of the EM Sphere. The BTS trian going by looked like a toy set. The room was clean, the king size bed was plush, the furniture was perfect. The lobby and "Glassroom" is a setting for photographs. The security/doormen was especially supportive and guest friendly. I will defitely be dropping a load of money staying there in the near future.

Bangkok after 13 years. It’s been 7 years since I traveled abroad due to COVID. Since this is a long-awaited vacation, I focused on location and value for money and after a few days of pondering, I booked at S31. The welcome I received from the lobby after my late flight was a pleasant start to my arrival. The room number was nice, but I was overwhelmed by the size as soon as I opened the door... it was really big! Later in the morning, while moving around, I saw the rooms that were being refreshed, but my room was truly spacious. I think it would be great for families or couples. The location is about a 10-minute walk to Terminal 21. The EmSphere is right across the street, making it easy for meal outings and convenient for shopping at Gourmet supermarket. I recommend it for those looking for accommodation in the Sukhumvit area. Ah, I didn't go to the pool because I had a lot of plans... Other than that, there are plenty of things to do in Bangkok. Now, here are some things I hope will be fixed: 1. The bathroom tub curtain is old and the vinyl structure has a slight smell of mustiness and mildew. The faucet above the showerhead was dirty, so I avoided using it. But more than that, the shower room is too dark. If there were lights near the mirror, it would feel less scary at night. Haha. 2. The air conditioning in the room is very strong, but the lowest noise level is almost the same as the highest, so I'm unsure what to do when trying to turn it off at night because it gets too hot... 3. The furniture inside is old and many parts are peeling or have scratches and dents to match the vintage style. I understand it opened in 2010, but I wonder how about overall modernization... The TV is Android, but mirroring and such doesn’t work... 4. The breakfast restaurant is neat, and the staff is very nice, but the setup should be simplified to reduce energy consumption while walking back and forth; even though there aren’t a lot of food items, they are too scattered. It might be better to arrange them in a line. 5. Lastly, this is personal, but since I had an evening flight, I checked in around 2 AM, which was completely after the 3 PM check-in. I wasted 11 hours... I don't know if they gave me a big room because of that... I politely requested a late check-in, but I received a response that I need to leave by the original time of noon... I acknowledge I couldn't inform them in advance, but it felt disappointing as it's been a long time since Bangkok. Still, this is a place that made me think about returning to Bangkok after 13 years. Everyone, make sure to compare this hotel; there aren’t any at this price point that can match it.
