Shimogyo hotels & places to stay

I didn't expect much for the low price, but the room is spacious, and there are many conveniences nearby (supermarkets, bus center, etc., as well as a convenience store on the first floor of the building), so I am satisfied with the hygiene and other aspects. The location is at Shijo Omiya, which is a great choice for those who dislike the hustle and bustle of Kawaramachi and Gion.

This is my third time coming to Kyoto, and this time I chose the Umekoji Inn, staying for four nights. I rarely write reviews, but this time I really want to sincerely thank and recommend it to everyone. In terms of price, the value for money is very high. Being able to stay in a well-equipped, excellent service, and well-located guesthouse (a hundred-year-old wooden house) at this price really exceeded my expectations!! Regarding location, there are several bus stops nearby, just a short walk away, and there's also a convenience store, making it very, very convenient~ It's less than a 20-minute walk to Kyoto Station, and everything is just perfect😍. As for service, it was clean, well-equipped, and the staff we encountered had a very good attitude!! Everything was very clear (check-in, check-out, bathroom instructions, etc.). Lastly: I slept really well!!! The tatami was super comfortable; I’ve slept on other tatami mats before, but none were as good as sleeping here🥹🥹.

It was reasonably clean, and the bedding and pillows were frequently changed, which was nice. The shower and toilet were separate, which was good, and tea and coffee were free. The refrigerator was big, and there was plenty of space to cook and eat! The reception is on the first floor, and the rooms are on the second and third floors. I stayed on the third floor, but just put in a little effort carrying the suitcase upstairs. The staff live and work at the accommodation, so it was nice to chat, and talking with various foreigners was enjoyable. The train passes right next to it, so if you're sensitive to noise, I wouldn't recommend it! I personally slept well with it as background noise.

As soon as I entered, I was confused because there was no one there, but when I made a phone call, a very quiet man came out from the back and guided me. Good points: - Clean - Good location - Inexpensive Concerns: - The walls are too thin, and I could hear the snoring of the people on the upper floor from the first floor. - I could hear all sounds, so when I was talking, the neighbor kept banging on the wall. - Cold

The accommodation is located opposite Kyoto Station. The reception is on the 2nd floor of the building. The staff is very friendly and gladly offers to store your bags both before check-in and after check-out, making it convenient to go out and explore. Additionally, the staff upgraded the room to a larger one for free. The room is spacious, large, clean, with a comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom is wide and clean, and there is a sitting area in the room. The view is directly of the station. It’s worth the price.

It's a bit of a walk from Kyoto Station, but it's just right for me. The location, the size of the bed, and the quietness are all perfect. The lightness of the breakfast is also good. If I had to be picky, it could have been a bit larger, but the price was reasonable. I had minimal interaction with the staff, but everything was well organized, and I was able to spend my time comfortably.

The location of the accommodation is good, and the price is nice with breakfast included. The staff is friendly. After COVID, hotels usually don't clean daily unless it's a long-term stay, but they clean daily here. However, their thoroughness seems lacking. There were slippers under the bed that I don't know who they belonged to, and there was a travel kit with toothbrush and toothpaste on the shelf. The space under the bed is large, so if you go alone, you should definitely check it. I had a twin room, and there was empty space under one bed while the other side had a folding bed. (Since seeing news about it before, I always check under the bed.) It was a Hollywood twin room, but the window didn't open and was covered by some black material. It seems like it's because there's a building right next to it. Overall, though, I was satisfied.

The transportation convenience at Kyoto Station is of course excellent. As for dining, there are so many choices in the underground area of Kyoto Station and in front of the station that it can be hard to decide. Shopping is also hassle-free with Isetan, Yodobashi Kyoto, convenience stores, and Kyoto Station’s underground Porte available from morning until late at night. APA's reliable service, along with the staff who are very kind and attentive, makes for a pleasant stay, and the room is just right for solo travelers. The large wall-mounted TV offers plenty of information and entertainment, and the amenities were sufficient. The only drawbacks are that there is no large public bath (though there is one at the Kyoto Station East across the street), no ice machine, and only one elevator, which means waiting can take a while. None of these are major issues, but considering that the mini fridge in the room isn’t very cold, having an ice machine would be appreciated.

The bathroom and toilet are shared, but they are clean and the furnishings are stylish. Since there are many foreign guests, you might also engage in some international exchange... I think there is a high degree of freedom as you are not too restricted by the operating hours of the accommodation. You can come and go at any time, and in the morning, if you leave the key at the front desk, you can check out on your own.

I had known the name of this hotel for a long time, but this time I was able to stay for the first time since I was looking for accommodations for a large group. It was very helpful that we could leave our luggage right in front of the station beforehand. The room had been renovated, and it was very clean, with two toilets, two baths, and two washbasins outside, which made it very convenient for the group. The breakfast was delicious and had a wide variety, so I thought it was a good value for the price. I also thought I would like to stay here when traveling alone.

This year, to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday, I booked this hotel for a trip to Kyoto. As someone currently working in the hotel industry, I compared several hotels in Kyoto, and this was the best within my budget. The room was well-equipped with amenities, and the cleanliness was perfect—even the space between the electrical sockets had no dust. The staff's responsiveness was also good. For breakfast, there is a Western-style buffet at Kazahana and a Japanese-style breakfast at Tankuma on all days except Tuesday and Thursday; both the taste and menu were very satisfying compared to the budget. The location is at the Horikawa Gojo intersection, which may seem less convenient than accommodations right in front of Kyoto Station, but we often used taxis and there was a regular shuttle bus, so we felt no inconvenience in moving around. My parents are older, so we couldn't stick to the planned itinerary, but they were very happy, saying they felt no fatigue after resting in the room. Even if this might be the last trip to Kyoto with my parents, I want to express my gratitude to the staff of the Kyoto Tokyu Hotel for creating such wonderful memories.

The location is very close to Kyoto Station, just across the street and a few more steps away. It is really convenient, near Lawson, Starbucks, and a bus stop. The hotel and rooms are fully equipped with amenities and supplies. There is a water dispenser and a coin-operated washing machine available. The breakfast service is packed with quality and there is a lot of food to choose from. If you get the chance, I recommend trying the 1-hour massage service. The massage staff is excellent and helps relieve fatigue very effectively (especially the massage before or after soaking in the onsen, it is truly relaxation -- I want to go back again). The onsen here offers hot and cold water services. Soaking in the extremely cold water as part of Ice-Bathing helps the body recover from various inflammations and promotes recovery very well. It's really great. The rooms are very clean, and the staff is eager to assist. I really like it here.

The location in front of the station is excellent for transportation convenience. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable to stay in. The bathroom is also large and easy to use. The staff's response was friendly and courteous, which gave me a great sense of security. The facilities and services were well-equipped, making for a highly satisfying stay that was worth the price. On the day of checkout, they even kept my luggage, allowing me to enjoy sightseeing in the city until the last moment.

This time, I was planning a sightseeing trip centered around Kyoto Station. Since the hotel was directly connected to the station, I didn't have to wander around with heavy luggage! That was really helpful. Additionally, there were three different sizes of towels available, which was very convenient. I also had no worries about the amenities. Breakfast was a buffet style, with a variety of rice, bread, side dishes I wanted to enjoy, salads, fruits, and drinks, so I had a hearty meal in the morning. Moreover, in the afternoon, there was a happy hour plan where I could enjoy drinks on the afternoon of my check-out day. 💖 I made use of this service while finalizing my luggage check. 😊 It was truly a stay that exceeded the price, and I am very satisfied. I would like to use this hotel again when I visit Kyoto. Thank you very much.
