Conveniently located in Shinjuku with excellent public transport links, this hotel offers modern and clean facilities. Well-maintained rooms are serviced daily by friendly, English-speaking staff. Overnight luggage storage is available.
This modern hotel has cozy rooms with daily cleaning service. Walls are thin leading to some noise. Hygiene could be better as linens are dirty and bathrooms have mold. A bit of a walk from Shinjuku Station and the underpass can be tricky to navigate, especially in hot weather.
Did you find this review summary helpful?
The WHG was very convenient with the airport limousine bus. You get dropped off infront of the Washington hotel at the first floor and take the lift to the reception area( 3rd floor). Luggage trolley is also available for guests with lots of luggages. The location is within walking distance from the JR Shinjuku station. Toiletries were provided daily The size of the room is just enough for two people sharing a double bed. Bed was comfortable and room temperature was centrally controlled. There was a small fridge a kettle tv a luggage stand( only for small luggages) a chair and table. There was even a humidifier inside the room. Shoe shiner shoe horn and daily slippers were provided. Large suitcases are difficult to manoeuvre since there is not enough space to open the suitcase except to place it on top of the bed. Coffee and tea were replaced daily. There was also a luggage locker at the 3rd floor where the reception is located , which was a bonus since it was free. Two convenience stores Lawson and family mart were within the building. Quite a few restaurants inside the building also. There was an ice machine and extra pillows provided in each floor Laundry room was located in the first floor and laundry was provided inside the washing after paying around 500 yen for 5 kg load. Dryer was 100 yen for 20 minutes. Staff was on hand to assist guests if there are questions. Elevator/lift was fast however during rush hour like check ins or check outs the lifts do sometimes get busy.
Rooms are small by western standards. Bathrooms also small but modern and clean. No control of the heat. You can control an air conditioner fan setting, I found the room a bit warm even with the air conditioner. The one pillow provided was a rock. Hardly room for a suitcase without it getting in the way. Ample traditional Japanese food choices for breakfast. They ran out of things quickly, and slow to replenish. Skim picking some days later in the morning. Not an egg nor cheese nor deli meats to be found like in the US or Europe. A lot of fish and chicken offerings. They even tended to run out of simple things, like bread. Very few places to sit in the lobby. No business center and no place to work on a computer outside your room. A small table barely large enough for a computer in the room. No three prong outlets in the room, so make sure you have a converter (US three prong to 2 prong). Food court has mediocre quality restaurants. A fairly expensive restaurant on the 25th floor. Most close by 10 PM. Two quicky marts in the hotel. Staff terrific. Clean and quiet neighborhood of mostly office buildings. The office building across the street has a small food court in a sunken area you might not notice. It also has some decent restaurants on the 29th floor for lunch. A few blocks away there is a large shopping district. Many restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. Bottom line, you can find restaurants that fit a range of budgets at the hotel or nearby. 15 (?) minute walk from Shinjuku station is convenient. There is a taxi stand at the hotel. Narita and Haneda busses pick up and drop off at the front entrance of the hotel. They run about once an hour or so during the day. On the return trip, the bus makes a lot of stops in the Shinjuku area, so the trip to the airport (HND) can be over an hour even though it is not that far in distance.
I booked this hotel on last minute, the area is around offices and hotel relatively clean and new. The only problem is the location that a bit far from shinjuku city center and sometimes i got confused to find way back to hotel because so many tunnels
Room size - Superior Deluxe room but it is still small. No wardrobe but has 4 hangers on the wall. The queen-sized bed is very firm and comfortable. Just that the pillow is a bit too low, I had to place a bath towel under the pillow. Pillow - one side is cotton/foam whilst the other are tiny beads. Bathroom - this is a challenge. To enter you need to climb up about 6 to 8 inches up. And the toilet bowl is much lower than the standard one. It is challenging to get in and out of the bath tub to take your shower. Height of bathtub is much higher than the Americam/European ones. But overall, we love the water pressure - strong and powerful. Just feels great to take a shower! The aircon is not strong. Only 2 nights out of 6, the aircon was suddenly colder than usual. That's when we had good night sleep. Other nights, we kicked off the blanket most of the time as we were perspiring after a few hours. Highly recommended the hotel breakfast on level 25 - it has a good spread. JPY1980 per pax. They had grilled unagi (eel) as one of the dishes for buffet breakfast and that makes your money worth. Convenience - 100 yen for a bus ride (board at the bus stop right outside the hotel main door), bringing you from hotel to Shinjuku Station West Exit to catch the train/subway or shopping. For return trip, take the bus from the bus stop 21 outside Keio Dept Store. Just one stop ride back to the hotel. Very convenient. Alternatively, you can take a 15 mins walk to the JR station. Food wise - hotel basement has many restaurants, few open till 9pm. So its convenient to have a meal on a rainy day. There are 2 Lawsons Family Mart - on L1 and B1 selling a wide variety of items, drinks, snacks, sandwiches etc. The B1 store has a bigger floor space and sells much more variety.

“Excellent”
I stayed in shinjuku washington hotel as a solo female traveller for 5 nights, the location of the hotel is perfect for travellers who use airport limousine bus for their convenience, because the bus stops right in front of the hotel. The hotel's room mighe be a little old but its clean, with the necessary facilities. Location wise, it is also near the metro, and JR line is slightly 15 minutes further. Walk a bit more, there are plenty of place for you to drink and eat good food. Regretfully, I would say the staff performance wasn't stellar, as I was treated coldly when I asked for their help to be called a taxi (it was 5 am and i was carrying a big / heavy luggage, I want to make my life easier by asking a taxi to bring me to Shinjuku Basuta) I was asked to go to the first floor twice instead by the staff and there is no one to help me to book it. All of the taxis downstairs are awaiting reservation. I thought this is a common practice in hospitality, but it certainly doesn't feel like it. I'm lucky my destination isn't too far, but I would certainly be at disadvantage if its anywhere further with the things I have to carry.
