“Non All-Inclusive Resort in Korea (2hr Train from Seoul)”
Located in Gangneung, East Coast of Korea, it takes a very manageable 2-hr KTX (Express) train ride from Seoul. This is an enormous hotel resort (+ conference rooms + wedding hall + pool + dog friendly amenities +++etc). It's a great place to take kids. There is a pine tree forest across the street then the gorgeous beach. Lots of place for kids to burn off energy. We went in November (off-season) so it wasn't too crowded which was great. Also, it was unseasonably warm so we enjoyed walking on the beach and grounds. Beautiful sculptures and lots of places for photo opportunities. Clean rooms and common areas. Building across the street that can be accessed directly without going outside from Lake Tower rooms (There are 3 towers: Ocean, Pine, Lake). Convenience store, Arcade, Restaurants- very convenient. The only issue here is that to access the pool you have quite a trek. It is located in the 6th floor of Lake Tower so it was only an elevator ride for us, but we saw many people walking outside with kids in swimsuits outside, crossing the street. It's worth asking for detailed instructions at check in to avoid this. They have games and gadgets for rent during your stay: for a fee. Kids club: for a fee. Everything is extra, but the amenities are there. In room dining is extremely limited. Restaurants abound, there is a whole block of them to the back of the hotel. Even more just across the pine forest (10-15 mins walk). Very cute cafes and restaurants. Oh, also, the swimming pool is also a paid amenity- which is a bummer. A daily charge per person gets you access until the next day 1300. The pool that was open in November was heated and half indoors and half opened to fantastic views of the beach. It can get crowded. It is extremely dog-friendly. Dogs in strollers abound. We had a good time. The city of Gangneung is very beautiful.
