"I give this a "10" for location since it is in the heart of the Sukhumvit "scene", but you should be forewarned that the hotel is located on a quiet, dark-in-places smaller street 90 degrees off Sukhumvit (opposite to Terminal 21, the superb movie complex and shopping center and food court). I have stayed at this Red Planet locations at least 4 times, including when it was part of the "Tune" chain. At first I was a little scared by the dark "alley" (which is quite clean and has expensive condos and homes lining it) but later I got used to it and never had a problem whether at midnight or 4 a.m.; if you come and go by taxi, this will never be a problem, and doormen/security is posted outside the main condo complexes and of course at the hotel. Taxis: you will get cheaper rates if the hotel doorman hails you a taxi off the street - the taxis in front specialize more in custom tours, even airport runs are premium priced. As to the rooms: quiet for sleeping all day or all night, with excellent light-blocking curtains, occasionally a next door neighbor might accidentally blast their tv when first turning it on. You won't hear your neighbors otherwise, not even if they are on their honeymoon. Since I do a lot of sink-wash, I'm grateful I can open the windows so air can circulate and dry out my laundry (the Surawong location windows do not open, and there is a much smaller in-room rack for hanging up stuff). The bathroom is superbly clean and superlarge. The room is superbly clean and supertiny! You get the super quality, upscale tourist feeling, by sacrificing the huge space the budget hotels usually offer in BKK (but such other hotels are usually on the shabby side, at least at the Red Planet's price point - the Red Planet is spectacular. NO FRIDGE. But if you walk to Foodland, you can get custom-made breakfast for 69 baht ($2), and across the street is Terminal 21 with a fantastic, absurdly low-priced Thai food court (or all manner of regular restaurants as"

"Decent place, nice sized room, and okay value for money. Toilet is rather tiny, and most of the stuff in the room in terms of amenities is chargeable. The soap is so tiny that its a joke and they may as well not keep it. Even the condom packet kept is chargeable. Make sure you have ur toiletries in hand so you dont have to use the stuff in the room. After check in your suitcase can take ages to come to your room, mine took well over an hour, and I had to call to get it. The hotel is guest friendly and there are no additional charges for a joiner. Location is a little off the main road, and if you are going to do a fair bit of up and down then its inconvenient compared to Salil or Grand President or President Palace. Still your in Soi 11, and this is the best possible area to stay in on Sukhumvit for a solo guy. There was a 1000 THB deposit, refunded in full to me, and also they went out of their way with good sound advise to get to the airport. I asked them to hire a car for me, but got great advise that since it is only me, and i only have 2 bags I should just take a regular metered taxi. Cost me just 300THB plus toll 90THB to airport, compared to 800THB min I have paid earlier. 10 on 10 for the hotel staff on honesty and going out of the way to ensure the customer's best interests are safe-guarded. Will I stay here again, definitely yes, unless I get a better deal from the others closer to Sukhumvit Main Road."

"in the capital, sukhumvit road serves as a main commercial street, and this section is often congested, even at late evening hours. the chalerm mahanakhon expressway has an exit at soi 1. ratchadaphisek road crosses sukhumvit at the asok (asoke) intersection. the sukhumvit area of bangkok is easily accessible on the skytrain sukhumvit line, which runs from mo chit through the silom line interchange at siam square up to on nut on soi (side-street) 81. the bangkok metro's sukhumvit station interchanges with the skytrain at asok. the sois are numbered from west to east, with odd numbers branching off north-east of sukhumvit, and even numbers branching off south-west. the area between sukhumvit soi 1 and sukhumvit soi 63 is popular as residential area for western expatriates. japanese nationals tend to prefer from soi 21 asok intersection upwards, especially soi thong lo. rentals tend to be higher in the even numbered streets between soi 8 and soi 28 and in the odd numbered streets between soi 15 and soi 39. soi 12 is occupied mainly by indian expatriates, see phahurat."

"'Ibis Bangkok Sukhumvit 24' is 'Mercure Bangkok' and vice versa. It's a new hotel - everything is good. Located just a few steps away from BTS Skytrain station 'Phrom Phong' - very convenient. But, the room is a little bit small - thus feel confined when maneuver within the limited space. They have 82 TV channels (if you have time to watch!). Fruits for breakfast should have more varieties - to reflect Thailand, as garden of fruits. There is a halal restaurant 'Usman' - about 500m away. "

"Everything is so great about the hotel, is new & clean, staff are friendly, location is so convenient (3mins walk to BTS Asok Station & Sukhumvit Subway Station). There's an 7-evelen just next to the hotel where you can easily buy snacks or drinks. One thing I need to highlight about their excellent services, our return flight is on 7pm they agree to let us check out late at 2pm with no extra charge and even provide a retreat room for us to rest and wait until the taxi arrive. Even 5 star hotel won't have this kinda service and thoughts. This place is absolutely highly recommend! "

"Save for the very far location from the city center, the hotel is a good deal for its elegance, large room and bath, sportscenter and gym, pools and attractive breakfast buffet. The big come on is the price because one pays for four star accommodations at two star prices. The staff, of Thai and Filipino nationalities, are very welcoming and do their best to make one's stay enjoyable. Taxies are available just outside the hotel though the hotel has access to its own for hire taxicabs that one can hire for special trips in and out of the city. Phra Kanong train station is about 500 meters walk but one must navigate a slightly perilous intersection to get there in one piece. For those arriving for the first time, a cab thru Sukhumvit will set you back by several bahts and minutes as the traffic can be unreasonable at almost all hours. The BTS train to Phra Kanong is the best way to get to the district. Besides , Sukhumvit main avenue is curiously mapped. All even numbered sois (streets) are on one side while the odd-numbered roads are on the opposite. However, they dont actually match. Across Sukhumvit soi 46, for instance, is still Sukhumvit soi 70 already."
