The highlight was the art collection tour which was brilliantly and enthusiastically presented. Thank you to Peter for being the custodian of so much wonderful history and for sharing it with us. Lovely breakfast in gorgeous area with a fantastic outlook. The staff are all amazing and so helpful and friendly.

Nice accomodation, amazing view”
We were 4 nights at Tanah Merah Resort. All in all we would recommend it, because the staff was very friendly and you got amazing views at breakfast over the jungle and the river below. On the other hand, unfortunately the gym was a mess and if you want to go from Ubud to the hotel, you gotta pay for a taxi (on the way into town, they got a shuttle - for free).

Terrible stay”
Terrible - Had a very disappointing stay here. Our upgraded room was out of date with bright yellow paint and creepy abstract paintings - not a very relaxing environment. Our room was flooded from some afternoon shower - it wasn’t even rainy season. Our belongings all soaked. Owner justified it because he can’t control weather and didn’t wash/dry our clothes. WiFi was terrible in rooms and there was none in bar area. Gym was a health and safety risk with rusty equipment. Shuttle service to town was not very reliable - could be waiting nearly half an hour for driver.

Amazing Stay in Jungle paradise”
Tanah Merah was the best place we stayed while we were in Bali. From the amazing villa we stayed in, to the beautiful pools over looking the rivers everything about this place was incredible. The art gallery on site was beautiful and gave a great history of Bali. The owner and his staff were truly great people and helped make our stay and experience of Ubud something my wife and I will never forget.

Peaceful, artistic, private, beautiful”
TANAH MERAH. This place is a find! A labor of love by it's Dutch owner, who proudly welcomed me into his new home and showed me his gorgeous view of the river and rainforest below. We stayed in the cottages, which are charming rustic creations. Even the lumber is artfully chosen, carved with primitive images. Our front porch overlooked the highlight of the property, a gorgeous green infinity pool that hangs over the rainforest valley down to the river. A comfortable bed with netting (my only suggestion is to add a couple of bolsters for head elevation since the bed does not butt up against the wall), AC and fan, a screened in space so no mozzies inside, a huge jacuzzi bath and enough hot water to fill it (which was a pleasant surprise). We took romantic baths both nights. A fridge stocked with beer, sodas and water, soaps and shampoos, quality towels and linens, hair drier, adapters for outlet, everything has been thought of. We ate all meals there and they were delicious. Room service for breakfast out by the pool, dinner in their gorgeous dining room overlooking a stunningly beautiful garden. Delicious meals and great service. There is a museum on site that we never got to. Next time. The staff was courteous, efficient, well-trained, sometimes a rarity in Bali. We had a motorbike but we never left the place for 3 nights, it was too cozy and peaceful. But, it's only 4-5 kilometers from the heart of Ubud, and on one of the quieter roads in the area. Perfect combination of comfort surrounded by serenity and art, and close to town. I love this place.

Memorable”
We booked a cottage room, but for some reason they upgraded our room to BALI VILLA! It's a 2-floor villa with a very nice view of the gorge. The rooms were clean and spacious. The infinity pools were nice. The staff very friendly and attentive to our needs. There shouldn't be any problem with transport if you'll hire a scooter downtown as the place is a little far from Ubud central. The breakfast could still be improved though - the bacon was dry, the bread too heavy (literally). Overall, we had a pleasing stay at the Tanah Merah, and will surely recommend this place to our friends who will visit Ubud soon.

Unforgettable stay at Tanah Merah Resort”
We absolutely loved the Tanah Merah Resort! We stayed in the Mads Lange Villa, which has a private pool, jacuzzi and incredible views of the jungle. The owner, Peter, and the entire staff are so friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and the entire resort is so beautiful that we had a hard time leaving. The location was perfect - about a 15 minute drive through the rice paddies from central Ubud. Highly suggest staying here.

we were there the 3rd time over the past 5 years and still love the place. The staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast and restaurant food is excellent, the complimentary shuttle to Ubud a bonus and the Gallery is definitely worth visiting. we still found the real Bali experience at Tanah Merah.

Nice view and lovely cottage”
The cottage room with the Jacuzzi is a treat - ask for it if you want a romantic room. The view from this room was really good. The staff is lovely and always thinking of all the aspects of your stay and the hotel in general is lovely - one of the best I have ever stayed in but I have some remarks since I myself work in the tourism industry since 10 years. The Hotel restaurant is Reaally overpriced and that is a reason why there are almost nobody there. The price is 2-3 times more then what you can get in Ubud for the same price and they also but 20% government tax and 5 % service tax and everywhere else in Bali they only put 10% government tax - even in other Hotels we stayed in - Why 20% in Tanah Merah???? Another thing I didn't like is the fact that they have caged birds in the garden - so unnecessary!!! They make horrible sounds and birds should be free in the nature!!!The owner also have 2 dogs that ran freely around the hotel area and one morning we woke up and the dogs had destroyed my t-shirt and my GF bikini - they should control the dogs better. They also begged in the restaurant.. not good! Overall a veery good hotel even though a had a few notes..

Best hotel we´ve ever stayed in!”
We loved our stay at Tanah Merah and if we´re ever going to Bali again, this is where we will stay. Super attentive staff, big and claen rooms and fantastic surroundings. For the first time the pictures of the hotel can´t live up to the reallity, and not the other way around. This resort is just perfect!

when i begin to talk about tanah merah , many excellent words will come to my mind: amazing, fantastic, friendly, full of art and so on. the only pity for us is to stay here too short, next time when i come to ubud again, i will still choose this hotel. and my mum told me repeatedly that i should not forget to say thank you to the staff because they even helped to take the clothes back to the room when we were out in a sudden rain.

Tranquil and relaxing hotel with excellent staff!”
Tanah Merah is a wonderful property located 5 minutes from downtown Ubud. The setting is relaxing and tranquil; the staff is wonderful and incredibly helpful; the food is superb and local. The owner has a large museum on site that can be toured. It includes countless Chinese porcelain pieces, and many Indonesian relics. No complains at all! We will be back!

Outstanding location, Best service, huge rooms, ”
This is not your standard quality hotel as the mix of a gallery & museum, nature views comfortable beautifully furnished rooms and most friendly staff make it a unique holiday experience. Set just outside the bustle of Ubud but within 10 minutes 5$ taxi ride you can enjoy a walk in the local village and padi fields, chat with the villagers and feel a real interaction with real Bali. The owner has one of the best collections of Bali art and Chinese porcelain I have seen in Asia.
