I stayed in the front main building with my husband and son, I was in stone town for two full days. The location is perfect! Right on the beach and near the night market, the view is stunning. The food and flavours is a lot! So much flavour and spices used, if you want real authentic food then anywhere you eat at stone town is amazing! The room- was a little small- I got a normal double room facing the ocean. The furniture does look dated however that is the theme of the hotel, the comfort level of the bed is amazing! Loved it- good value for money- will be visiting on my next visit to Zanzibar stone town! And lastly PLEASE DO STONE TOWN AND STAY FOR 2 days, if you want to see the real Zanzibar, the people, different cultures and taste authentic flavoured food then spend some time at stoke town
I stayed at Tembo House Hotel with six of my students from Radboud University in the Netherlands. They won a trip to a cashew processing company and its farmers with their stellar business plan. This hotel was recommended by the CEO/founder of the processing company. Our stay was a comfortable one. We felt at home by the cleanliness and spaciousness of the rooms, richness of the breakfast including a wide choice of local delicacies and friendliness of the staff. When I got swindled on my first day in Zanzibar at a spice stand, one of the hotel staff members called the tourist police to help me get my money back from the fraudster. I am grateful to all the staff and the manager , Mr Abdulaziz Yusuf. Thank you very much for making our visit a memorable one! I very much look forward to staying at your hotel with a new group of students in the near future!
This is a great place to staff in Stone Town. There is a lot of history to the building and it is situated right on the beach. The rooms are clean and the staff are great. The food is basic but very nice. There are a feww things to look out for, there is no lift so book a ground floor room if you do not want to use the stairs. The hotel does not allow alcohol, but there is a restaurant next door serving it, there is a goverment tax on the rooms which you pay at the end, this is not an issue if you are aware of it. Overall, the hotel is great and I will stay there again when I next go to Zanzibar.

We only stayed 1 Night, as the hotel is close to the airport, to catch a 5AM flight. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. My emails prior to check in were met with prompt responses. Check-In was a breeze. Excellent location, very close to the many shops and night market. I quite liked the restaurant was open 24hours. It was a great spot for us to do our stone town tour from. There are 3 pools at the hotel.
