Insanely compact room”
Room is relatively small but had all the necessary amentities. Ceiling to floor windows provided a view of the city. The circular bed was quite a novelty and the bathroom was huge enough to fit two.

Exceeding expectations in all aspects”
I travelled to Hualien with my significant other and stayed at The Fantasy Apartment for 2 nights. Let me tell you, this is a Hotel that goes the extra mile to ensure that you have a pleasant stay, no matter which country you are from. This review is going to be a lengthy one but it would definitely be worth reading. I arrived earlier than the usual check-in time at about 11.30am and was greeted by Mrs Shun (Who is actually the wife of the boss of the hotel). She readily welcomed us and we were informed that our special request to have the room with an all black interior was approved. After taking our particulars to confirm that we were the actual guests, she brought us to our room (502), where she explained in detail where we could find the facilities we needed. She had this warm and friendly personality that made us feel at home. Aside from the room being more spacious than I thought, it was clean and cozy too. They had ample wall sockets (About 5-6), a safe, a kettle, a hairdryer with a cool setting, mini fridge and a cardboard with hangers. The bed also came with 4 pillows and a duvet that could keep you warm. The Aircon was very responsive to the adjusted temperature and worked very well throughout our entire stay. Our room toilet was spacious, clean and well lit. They also put in the effort to organize the complimentary toiletries that were given to us in a neat manner. There were 2 rolls of toilet paper provided, therefore we did not have to worry about it running out. For the shower amenities, it came with a shower head that had an adjustable sprinkler, and had a strong pressure that I really liked. The temperature of the water could be easily adjusted and likewise was responsive too. We managed to meet both Mr Shun (Owner of The Fantasy Apartment) as well as Mrs Shun throughout our stay as they would take turns to man the front desk. Best place to stay in Hualien!”
Location was only 5mins walk from Hualien Train Station and 15mins walk/5mins drive to the city centre. There are several breakfast shops located right around the apartment, with one just right beside it. Room (with round bed) was super clean and amazingly furnished with stylish furniture, switches and even power sockets! Cable TV is available with many varieties of channels and movies to choose from. Although it is titled as "Fantasy apartment/minsu", it is nothing like one, almost hotel standard, because the owner and his wife are super friendly and welcoming, telling us about all the places to go and not to go (overrated places) in Hualien. They even offer us bread in the morning and helped us contact the day tour company. You can genuinely sense their passion in running this Fantasy apartment together. 100/100

We loved our stay in the fantasy apartment. The room was cleaned daily, the view was spectacular and the owner was super helpful and friendly. His English is limited, but he still tried his best to help us. Providing us with a custom map of the local area upon checking in, with highlighted places he recommended to eat at and visit. Anything he didn't know how to say to us in English, he pulled up on google translate to make sure we wasn't missing out on anything during our stay. He surprised us one afternoon with some oiled scallion pancakes after we came in from a morning tour of Toroko Gorge! The pancakes were amazing, and the store is highlighted on the map he provided us with. Can not praise the owner and his customer service enough! I would 100% recommend staying here. It's a 2-minute walk to Hualien Train station and about 30min walk to the local night market or 10minute by taxi.

That was a good stay. The host was exquisite, as soon as he realised we spoke a little Chinese, he reacted relieved and subsequently set off on a 20 minute explanation of everything to eat (or not worth eating) around Hualien. Even though I didn't quite catch all of it, it was very friendly and he is a very enthusiastic host. He also gave us an English map, but that was a little less expansive. He also went out of his way to give us a good price on scooter rentals in Hualien (in the business opposite the hotel) for 500NT/day. Other places charged me 800NT, I checked. When we told him we wanted to go to Taroko, he informed us about the marathon which would obstruct our plans of the second day. We then asked if we could leave for Taroko earlier than originally planned the next day, so we could cover more ground on one day. He called the scooter guy, and arranged for him to be there at 7 in the morning instead of 8:30. Very kind, indeed, Our room was spacious enough and very clean. Bathroom amenities sufficient and again very clean. Every day they cleaned the rooms while we were out, and provided us with water bottles. When we came back dripping from the rain, the owner gave us hot coffee and suggested for me to have a drink. The location is super near the railway station and just 4 minutes walking from the Hualien main road.

New and underrated hotel”
First thing first, the owner, Xuan Ren, is an AWESOME man! He was sooo friendly and helpful. He speaks very little English but Google Translate helped! It’s a new hotel, it is clean and the facilities are very modern. However, the sound proofing is pretty bad. There was a LOUD family staying one floor above us and we could hear all the kids’ yelling and laughing. The owner should really remind the guests to keep their voice down at night or do something about the sound proofing. About the location, it’s a 5-min walk to the Hualien train station and Hualien bus stop so it’s super convenient to travel in and out the city, and to visit Toroko Gorge. However, it’s pretty far away from almost everything else in town but you can rent out a motorcycle or a bicycle to travel around. The traffic is pretty calm there.

Exceeded all expectations”
We stayed for 2 nights in a regular room (no window) in February 2017. The reviews of this place were amazing and we couldn't believe that it could be true, but we were wrong. What made the real difference was the attitude of the staff, who really wanted to ensure we had the best possible time in Hualien. In particular, Molly speaks good English and took time to explain the best places to eat from their fabulous food map handout, and also recommended the best trails in Taroko Gorge. The free drinking water and coffee were appreciated. It's a short (5-10 mins) walk from the railway station and the Gorge Tourist Shuttle Bus stop, so the location was great too. All in all, a fantastic stay in Hualien.

Fantastic 2 nights stay!”
it was a 4 mins walk from hualien train station to hotel. The hotel was only 1yr+ so it was very clean. There are different concepts for each room and you have to inform them in advance that you want a opaque toilet door. Otherwise it will be clear glass. Our room was painted all white so it looks like a normal hotel room, however the room besides us was painted and decorated in red so it looks like a motel room to me. If you are very particular on the rooms, pls inform the hotel after you booked with them. Staff was friendly and they will advice you on the transport and destinations you can go in hualien and even other parts of Taiwan. Overall it was a superb stay for us!

I have a very pleasant 2 nights stay at Fantasy Apartment. The owner is a friendly and helpful person and will introduce all the good sightseeing locations in Hualien as well as the locations of good food in town. Hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the Train station but the road are not friendly to the luggage. I love the well furnished good taste interior décor. Clean comfortable bed and a large LED Smart TV. The toiletries are at par with the international hotels and air conditioner works well. There is no breakfast and you have to go to the next block. I love to be back.

Greeted by a friendly host who handled our check-in quickly. He knows Hualien at the back of his head and recommended suitable food and activities honestly. Honestly in terms of: 1. telling us to try all the snacks but buy in Taipei main station to avoid carrying the heavy bags back 2. telling us some stores are famous but nothing fantastic 3. recommending us the suggested activities 4. And what are some of the must have in Hualien In a nutshell, great host great stay.

Really wonderful. The place is about a 5-8 min walk from the train station. First impressions would be a really modern looking building, definitely appealing. Fantasy Apartment is a 民俗, so you get personalised service from owners whom give you advice only a local could. Everything from a comprehensive list of local haunts to eat at, to places to visit depending on the season, to bike rental etc. the place is actually less than a year old so everything is in wonderful condition. However if you are staying with a family, would recommend you mention to the owners as some of the bathrooms have glass partitions ( see through).
