“Amazing stay by Lake Ashinoko”
What a fabulous hotel! The decor is a little old fashioned (but that seems to be the same across Japan in our experience). We travelled with our teenage son for his birthday. The hotel went out of its way to spoil him. Our room had the most incredible view of the Lake with Mount Fuji in the distance. The hotel is set outside MotoHakone (so a taxi is needed to go there). However you have everything you need there anyway. There are several restaurants- we chose the buffet style (not something we would usually do). However with a hungry 19 year old, the bottomless buffet proved brilliant! It is not cheap. 8,000 yen per person but the selection is vast. The hotel staff are so helpful and polite. Our room was large and well appointed and beautifully clean and very quiet. The hotel had filled the mini bar with soft drinks and beer for his birthday which was a nice addition. We used the onsen for the first time, which for westerners is a bit of a culture shock (naked bathing being something we are not used to). Men and women are separate thankfully 😅 We didn't have breakfast but the hotel has a nespresso machine plus capsules for use in the room. All in all a great hotel experience right by the lake with a fantastic distant view of Fuji.
