“Value for money accommodation with great location but room for improvement”
Good value for what you get. Good location, connectivity, and access to F&B/public transport nearby. Room is comfortable and passably clean for accommodation off Sukhumvit Rd. Cleanliness: Very frequent cleaning & making up of rooms. Comfortable and clean white linen. Efficient and polite housekeeping staff. Can still be very much be improved:- When I first checked in I noticed drawers still had old receipts/documents from previous occupants, which I threw away. On the morning as I was about to check out, I found a dead cockroach in the bathroom. Another friend of mine that stayed there the same weekend also found a cockroach in his bathroom, on another floor. Unfortunately I had only a few hours until I checked out so I could not switch rooms nor ask for an upgrade. This is not surprising for hotels along Sukhumvit Rd though, particularly in the alleys where there are lots of street food stalls -- rats and cockroaches are very common. Kudos to the reception & hotel management for putting it right, however, as they took my constructive feedback seriously and arranged to provide a discount for a returning trip and some complimentary gifts. Noise level: We had a room at the end of the corridor, with no windows, so it was relatively quiet for us. However, I didn't appreciate that we received notice of renovations being carried out only when I checked in. If you check reviews on Agoda/Google, the renovations have been going on for months -- I decided to book because I checked most of these reviews and thought it would be safe to book after months of ongoing renovation and that most of it should be completed by my trip (I was wrong). While I only experienced the drilling noise on my floor on one day when I was spending time in the hotel before my next destination, I'm not sure how much more notice / handling the management can do short of reducing the amount of renovation. It does seem to be constantly ongoing so if this is something that might bother you as a traveler, maybe give this hotel a pass. Other room notes: Ventilation is poor - it may be the price, but we got a room with no windows. The A/C was a little dusty and loud, but the plus side to that was it was very powerful and helped circulate air. No notable working ventilation in bathroom, smelled a little moldy. Room design was OK, tasteful for the price point. Sink location outside with the large mirror made it easy for us to get ready even if the other occupant was using the bathroom. However, a major oversight in the bathroom with the blinds over the glass window separator between the bathroom and bedroom.... is the ledge for the toiletries. It's built so that it is behind the blinds, but if you're staying with friends/family and don't want to expose yourself while showering, the design doesn't make sense for you to reach around the blind to take the shower gel or shampoo. The designers could have just built a separate ledge or even just fasten a soap/shampoo dish to the shower head holder. Location: One of the best aspects of this hotel. It is 5 mins' walk from the main road, about 12-15 mins' walk to either Asok or Phrom Phong BTS stations either way and with good access to convenience stores, eateries and malls nearby. Accessibility/walkability: Soi 20 is very narrow, with limited walking space on either side. It makes walking with luggage challenging, as the road is not even - with lots of puddles and potholes. It may prove challenging for more senior folks. Staff: Most staff were friendly and welcoming, especially those that managed the bar and reception. Some that answered the phone were brusque and rude when they just hung up on me after I requested to refill water, but other staff made up for it with attitude and accommodating our requests. On-site food/drinks: A major highlight is the hotel bar, staffed by good bartenders who can make really good cocktails. But, you may want to target Friday/Saturday as the more experienced senior bartender
