Wonderful”
We (family of two adults and two young children) visited in December 2022. We loved the ambience, the location and the staff. The location is great - a 10 minute walk to Ubud Palace, yet located in a sheltered location by the river. We adored sitting on our balcony, listening to the sounds of the water, the insects and the birds. There are several great food/coffee options directly across the road, including Kopitoko (amazing coffee) and ARAK (best for smoothie bowls). The spa is great - it has hot baths, cold baths, steam rooms and saunas. It costs a bit extra (IDR 10,000 per adult, 5,000 per child), but is well worth it. The breakfast buffet is varied and tasty. Our first room had an exposed balcony, and we didn't feel comfortable with our kids walking on it. However, the staff were happy to accommodate us and moved us to another room with an enclosed balcony. Overall the staff are lovely and helpful. After staying here, we visited a 5 star resort in Nusa Dua, and all we could talk about was how we missed being enveloped by the green gardens of Tjampuhan Hotel and Spa. We read some other reviews stating that the place is dated or faded. We found it charming and will happily visit next time we are in Bali.

Our stay was very comfortable, we booked a massage at the hotel spa, which was amazing along with the hot and cold spa pools. The hotel is surrounded by lush greenery and has many scenic views. The hotel staff were very courteous and attended to all of our needs promptly.

Peaceful. Quiet. Stunning view and flora. A private space nestled in the trees away from the hustle outside. Soothing soundtrack provided by the adjacent river and myriad fountains throughout the property as well as the native birds and other local fauna. Lobby/lounge area plays a slow, mellow, meditative, gamelan melody, barely audible in the distance, lending a dreamy quality to this already sanctuary-like space. Perfect place to rest and recharge.

Tropical Delight”
I looked in here years ago and wanted to stay . We managed to get in for a night and just loved it. Beautiful bedroom with super king bed, they even turned it down in the evening. We were on the lowest level near the spa. In the morning was fantastic to do my yoga/meditation with squirrels and a large red parrot and a cacophony of birds/insects with the sun peaking through. The spa was an amazing grotto of carvings ran out of time to go in, but will come back and have a spa day. The whole place was a wonder with carvings and fantastic greenery. Definitely will book in advance next time.

Oasis in the Town Bustle”
The hotel is a calm place to re charge after your various outings in the town, hearing birds and the river below overlooking a green valley is very peaceful. It's about a 10 min walk to the centre of the town and very close to a great walking track (Champhian Ridge Walk). Breakfast was better than other reviewers gave it credit for , so when I saw what we got I was surprised how good it was. Staff were fantastic and were very helpful with various questions we had. Can't recommend this hotel highly enough for the price.

One of the coolest places I have ever stayed.”
This old historic property, read the websites story, is amazing. The detail in every area is breathtaking. The rooms with the wood and thatch ceilings made me you feel like I was on a movie set. The spa is incredibly special. Great breakfast buffet. And the staff phenomenal. I can't believe I had gotten a deal with prices cheaper than a low budget motel in the US.

Most beautifu location with an interesting history ”
This hotel is one of the most beautiful locations I've stayed at: looks like Rivendell from LOTR. The rooms are well kept and clean and the staff is welcoming and warm. You can eat delicious food at the restaurant or have a drink with a view. You can also rent a car and use the parking with no worry. the hotel is located just 15 minutes walk away from the centre, which helps a lot if you don't plan on hiring a Grab or using a car to move around.

Beautiful Balinese rain forest retreat”
This was our fourth stay, and we couldn’t recommend more highly! The view into the tropical rainforest was breath taking, with the doors opening into a truly stunning environment. Located just a 5 min walk to restaurants,& shops, we love the authentic and original Balinese ambience, very peaceful, and quite spiritual.I had been to Bali over times before being introduced to this place, and though historic and original, great value for money.

I booked the Tjampuhan hotel but they moved/upgraded me to their sister hotel nearby, the Peta Maha. I had booked the least expensive room, they gave me a private villa with private pool, beautiful rooms with view of the jungle and river. Everyone was very kind, all the hotels and shops are doing their best to hold on. If you are in Bali, now is a chance to experience some wonderful hotels at never seen prices.
