Trang City Center hotels & places to stay

Trang city will be your hub stop if u r headed to any of the surrounding islands for adventure, Koh Mook, koh Kradan etc.(aprox 50min drive from Trang city to the coast/boat ) The south is not anything like the melting pot of Thailand 'BKK' , the local economy is agriculture. rubber, cashew nuts etc. local pass times is duelling bulls. "big money livestock!" Backpacker types will be at home here. the local language even thickens the more closer u get to Malaysia. funny, even central Thais have to listen closely to understand the southern locals...dialect & southern twang... lol The Thurmin Thana hotel may be the cities best offering when it comes to western standards. Stay away from the spa (mezzanine floor) in the Thurmin Thana hotel. " terrible service for thai standards" u r better elsewhere. In general the accommodations r at its best..just another standard hotel..there are professional services available. (ex.) catering, business center etc. upside is also security. There is key access to activate elevators up to the rooms, heavy lobby staff and theres proud security personnel like most organized accommodations in thailand. For the price its worth it. Everything worked in my room. AC :), a view, local TV...yah and western toilet haha....i have humbly no complaints and not much expectations! The staff is great. Professional and courteous. Limited in english but can get by. Expect major english language limitations outside of the hotel. Better work on your charades game. Get a hotel business card before u depart for adventure. it will help the driver to understand going back to the "rhong rham= hotel" Thumrin Thana . The local food is where its at though. Go off grid and take a old school classic tuk tuk. Now i know how it is to be on R&R back in the day. Go get some thai/ muslim fusion cuisine. U r in a ancient country. Your in the south now!

A good waypoint to stop and collect yourself if you're not in a hurry to get to another part of Thailand. It's really hotel utilised mostly by Thai tourists, but don't let that dissuade you. The rooms have a personal router, the net speed is reasonable, it's capped at about 20Mbps, even though the hotel is fitted out with fibre, you don't necessarily benefit from this. This a good, clean, reasonably priced, user friendly hotel a stone throw from Trang hospital. The area is nothing to write home about, but Trang tends to cop a smattering of foreign tourist, generally on their way to the islands.

Clean hotel with firm beds and perfect for a day or two in Trang. Don't expect a resort or breakfast in the morning. What you can expect is efficient check-in and check-out, a very clean room, a firm bed and restful sleep. Don't be put off by the location as it is behind the train station. There are only 2 passenger trains a day which arrive and depart during waking hours. It is an easy walk to the center of town through the sleepy rail station. In front of the rail station is a night market with clean food. Exiting the front of the rail station if you turn right the second store after the beauty salon is a great coffee shop called "Sin O Cha". Who needs a hotel breakfast if you allow sufficient time (11 am flight to Bangkok and the breakfasts in town start at 0630). Trang is famous for approximately 70 dim sum restaurants The hotel can arrange a Trang style Tuk Tuk to pick you up for a trip to the famous Ruean Thai (075 219 342), one of the city’s best-known dim sum eateries. In his cavernous restaurant located slightly outside downtown Trang, early risers are blessed with a selection of more than 40 steamed dim sum items. “We make all our dim sum by hand,” states Khun Jaa the owner. The Tuk Tuk will take you back to the hotel to collect your bags and the take you to the airport. All in all a great morning and it is a far better experience than a hotel breakfast.

This was the second hotel in trang city center we choose for a week in trang. One would have been okay if i knew it would be good. This hotel was the best of the two by far. Although it does not have a restaurant food is not far down the road. The TV choice was ok, a kettle with coffee sticks provided and the room was clean (built 2013). Staff were ok. The siriban shopping center was just down the road. A songthaew stopped near the siriban and you could go into the other end of town (big clock) or to robinsons- another shopping center. The only thing i didn't like was the drains around the hotel. This was our 1st time here and i would be happy to come here again because it is clean.

conveniently located near the train station which hosts the night market with a kind welcoming host Sritrang is an excellent choice for any traveller. the room was clean and comfortable. not fancy more industrial in style but for me as a solo traveller with a budget perfect. An important word of advice however there is a tour agency next door do not go there. I lost 900baht booking a taxi i didn't need because the person there convinced me I would have to come all the way back to Trang in order to travel from Ko sukon to ko libong. I feel foolish admitting I was so gloriously ripped off but hope that my experience can be a lesson to others. you rarely need to go all the way back to Trang to affordably transfer islands. save yourself money do not enter the tour office next to Sritrang!

You can take bus (blue one) from Trang bus terminal to the hostel and vice versa, the bus will stop at the corner of Phatthalung road and Udormlap road, so you need to walk a bit to Nokhook house. The dorm and overall hostel are clean, however some small corners and the window in front of the sink in the kitchen look dirty. They offer 4 island hopping tour w price of 900 baht include ticket to national park. Just keep an eye on the cheaper tour. But that's a great tour you dont want to miss when you come to Trang province.

Positives: The staff at this hotel do not speak English, but they are so friendly and helpful. The language barrier didn't stop them from being extremely welcoming and they tried to help us in any way they could. Definitely a wonderful family that runs this hotel! All the rooms have different themes, and they are all very cute. It's a sort of boutique hotel! The hotel was also very clean. Negatives: It is very difficult to find this hotel. It must be new because most locals did not know the name. Our tuk-tuk driver took us all over the city, and we never found it. He ended up dropping us off at a different hotel because he just gave up on the search. Luckily we had the address of it, so we were able to find a map (there are very few maps available in Trang Town, so grab one if you see one!) and tell a driver the general area of the hotel. It still took quite a bit of searching. We rented a scooter to drive around, and we struggled to find our way home at night due to the lack of street signs and the inaccuracies of our only map.

It’s nice location. There is a clock tower right front of the hotel, at night clock tower will display light such as green , purple , etc .. there are ‘famous noodle shop’ next to the hotel and you can sit there pay the price as local Thai people , also ‘Kuay Jabb’ , these food are tasty. I’m Thai with my American husband and our daughter. And next to these street food restaurant shop , there are food shop cook by your order such as ‘Tom Yum’ , ‘Pad Kra Praow’ , and etc... , also restaurant in the hotel serve food that tasty also if you don’t wanna walk out, hotel is old but We still like it. Ohh next morning I walk along street , walk from side of the hotel , go out of the hotel then turn left then walk straight for about 5 mins , there is a local Thai market at the opposite of the street , easy to cross as not many cars in the morning (6-7am) , I brought ‘Kanom Krokk’ , ‘Joke rice porridge’ , ‘Grilled pork with sticky rice’ some other local food , they are all yummy and real Local Trang people sell those food. Trang people are friendly and you will pay as local Thai people, (After spent a few nights at the Island , a lot of overprice we spent many paid for non necessary transfer by the boat & taxi mafia , this Trang hotel is relaxing for us , we will go back to the all islands at Trang again we love Trang islands still but next time we will know better way to get there and better way to live and travel around Trangs)The last day we asked for airport transfer and we wanna get FroggTukkTukk , we pay 350bth for our trip (250bth charge and 100bth tip) Frog TukTukk driver is cute and friendly (he is a man with 80yrs old of age but he look like 40yrs old with my eyes)

First of all, location is perfect! We took a sleeper train from Bang kok to Trang, This hostel is located in just 50m from thw Trang railway station. There are lot of travel agency around Trang station and morning market just behind the hostel so you can enjoy cheap tasty thai style street food in the morning. There is Seven-eleven 20m from the hostel. Our room had a big balcony we enjoyed watching how local people live here. Staffs are friendly, well english speakers, we got 1L bottle of water for each when we checked in there. -This was unexpected thing for budget room!
