“Exceeded expectations, although could be better”
We booked this hotel purely for its location, and its vicinity to an event we needed to attend. After reading recent reviews I was pleasantly surprised that things were quite good here. Room was clean, small but had all we needed. The location on the riverfront with a restaurant was lovely but food is only at night normally and we had to request fans be turned on when having drinks during the day with friends. Getting drinks and food was a bit of an effort although the staff were ok, only one spoke english but we speak Thai so that was fine for us. I let them know I had some deliveries coming, one arrived and was left on the counter, one stated delivered but wasn't able to be found and lots of confusion with the staff... turned out the delivery driver had taken it back (one staff said it was because I hadn't told them it was coming, then that I hadn't labelled it properly, but then had told another staff member there was a person with that name staying... I'll never know, but upon redelivery it too was left just on the counter for anyone to take and we each time had to prompt is this ours - it was a very different experience to anywhere else we've ever stayed in Thailand) Once this few days of interactions had occurred, the staff were still friendly but I could see why people had said what they had. My husband and I speak Thai so I can absolutely understand how it would be a different experience for a visitor with limited language interacting. That aside, this hotel is close to the khaosan Rd area, great for tourists looking for hustle and bustle and a tourist friendly area of Bangkok but loses some of the authentic beauty of other parts of Bangkok. Its inexpensive for a hotel with rooms with river views. It's close to a ferry stop to travel on the river and get to the BTS or IconSiam etc. There is a great daytime local restaurant at the corner of the laneway entry and the staff (a family) here are exceptionally friendly and helpful if you need English speaking local knowledge. Would I stay here again, only if I needed to be in the Dusit area. Would I recommend it - my young adult kid's friends would love this location, but there are cheaper and quieter, more accessible local areas. And also there are only stairs which I didn't remember reading in the ad, so definitely not if you need accessibility.
