“Great quiet hostel with pool in central location”
PROS What's Up Chiang Mai is a little hostel hidden gem. Very affordable for what you get. Generous beds with curtains, outlets and lights and a large underbed locker, enough to fit a daypack or small rucksack. Pool was excellent and a great place to relax in the afternoon after a hot day of sightseeing. Pool and common areas are shared with the hotel portion of this accommodation. Atmosphere is social, yet quiet. Was easy to meant people in the dorms or around the pool at certain times, but not a party hostel, so I wouldn't book if you are wanting that. It is though located around the corner from some, so was easy to go the the bars there and return to a quiet place when you wanted. Not too much in terms of food or transport in the immediate surrounding streets, however was only a 5-10 min walk to anything. Safe area, I was a female travelling solo and didn't feel uncomfortable at all. I would recommend and stay again. Especially for the price. CONS Reception closed of an evening, if you arrive late it could be an issue. Showers in the dorm area weren't that great. Pressure could be better and water could be hotter, Not terrible though.
