We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, and it's a plus that they offer a free bus shuttle service To and From Gora station. There's not much going on around the area of the hotel, but it's the perfect place to unwind after a full days worth of exploring Hakone. The room we got was spacious and enough for 4 people since they provide futons to sleep in the tatami area. If you didn't get a reservation with full on board meals, there's a nearby Family Mart at Yunessun which you can buy food and drinks from. If you're not comfortable with a Public Onsen (which they do have fees for at Y300 / person - 2025 rate), they have a pool you can swim in! Caps are required, but you can rent it from the hotel if you forget to bring one. Unlike other hotels, there's also a gym which you can do your workout in.
The indoor pool was larger than I expected. It was quite empty and a little cold. You can warm up properly in the shower room. It's reassuring that there is a gym and a manager on site. It's also nice that the spa house is close to the pool. The hot spring bath in the East building was very nice. It's not scalding hot, but it warms you up well. If you go to the floor with the microwave, you can heat up items bought from the convenience store. The shop is small, but they sell souvenirs, cup noodles, water, and rice that can be heated. Since there isn't a convenience store nearby, it might be a good idea to shop before checking in. Breakfast is a buffet with a variety of side dishes, and it was delicious. The dining area has a great location! Eating while enjoying that view was the best. All the staff members were pleasant. The room felt a bit old, but the toilet has a washlet and the sink area is bright. The room was properly cleaned and tidy. The bedding was also clean. There is a free shuttle bus, but it takes time since it stops at various hotels. I think it's efficient to call a taxi at checkout and go from Souunzan Station for sightseeing. There were lockers at Souunzan Station, so I stored my luggage there and went sightseeing towards Lake Ashi. On the way back, I picked up my luggage at Souunzan Station and went to Gora. When I went, it was snowing, so I couldn’t take a walk, but I think the hotel's location is very good for walking. I would like to use it again if I have the chance.
Even though it was old, it was well-cleaned and had a sense of cleanliness. There were excellent facilities such as a gym, table tennis, a pool, and hot springs, and I enjoyed the hotel enough. It was also great that it was just a short walk to Yunessun. I chose a plan that included breakfast, and there were some unusual options for breakfast like takoyaki and yakisoba, which made my child very happy. The facility had an old-fashioned feel, but it was well-cleaned. Adults enjoyed the bath while children had fun in the pool. The rooms were divided into Western-style and Japanese-style, and the presence of both futons and beds made the children happy. The bath had a large bathing area with a sauna and a smaller bath without a sauna, allowing for bathing from morning till night, which was great. However, it was disappointing that there were some guests with poor manners, likely due to the recent increase in inbound travelers. (← But this is not the fault of the accommodation.) The changing room does not have locked lockers; instead, it uses baskets, so it's safest to keep valuables in the room. There is a secured place in the room for valuables. The children love swimming, so as soon as we finished sightseeing, they immediately jumped into the pool. Additionally, the front desk offers board game rentals. The staff was very pleasant, and it turned out to be a wonderful trip. Thank you very much.

“Reminiscence of economic bubble splendor”
It is a spa hotel with very wide comfortable rooms. Prices counted per person. Small store at receiption works 24h. But the breakfast should be reserved in advance. While generally good, it feels that the hotel struggles with maintenance costs during post 2011 earthquake economic decline. Rooms are daily cleaned, but need general cleaning and patching for a few decades. While hygienic cleanness is OK, there are a lot of old stains and torn wall cloth. The felt flooring also needs replacement. Tatami is in very nice condition. Rooms are on the bright side with wide windows, and peaceful mountain forest view. There seems deluxe apartments with large terraces, but not used recently. Large spa and pool, but the pool seems not managed well, with vegetation invading and covered the view. Beware that there is a way to the Yunesun Spa, not covered on the map. At night, it is very hard to find a way to the hotel even when in a day-light it is jut 10 minutes. Particularly getting back from Yunessun is very hard - a hotel shuttle would be appreciated. But Japan traditionally does not value customers enough to provide shuttles everywhere.
