Great location, good value”
Right in the heart of Stonetown, easy to get around, clean and a good deal for the price
Simple but good”
I stayed in the shared dorm and it served its purpose as a convenient place to spend the night. The location is easily accessible and the staff friendly. The room is reflective of the price - good value but nothing fancy.
Good choice for quiet & chill ”
I spent 4 nights here and I would recommend Zlife. The staff are nice, the courtyard garden is pretty and it is a good location. My tiny double room was simple, with a fan and shared bathroom. It is kept clean and the shared shower is excellent (something that I appreciate!) As a solo traveler I didnt find it very social for meeting people, but it was a quiet place to recover from days of travel and get some good sleep. The breakfast is good. There is a small shop right next door, a bank on the corner and the beach is a block away.
Great place to start your Zanzibar Adventure from”
Centrally located. Good value for money. Most Stone town activities within walking distance. Staff very helpful in planning your activities without pushing the typically tourist traps
Very basic”
The inner courtyard of this hotel is gorgeous but the rooms and bathroom are pretty basic but clean enough. The staff try to be helpful I think but everything the guy at the front desk set me up with was terrible. I asked for an airport pickup but nobody came to pick me up. They set me up with a walking tour but the guide was long winded, not very interesting, spoke poor English, all of which I would have forgiven if he weren’t also a little creepy. We went to a market and he said people were saying I would be a good wife for him. He did take me to a taarab music performance though that was fantastic. Then I joined a spice tour which was fine but I asked the driver to wait while I picked something up from a market and he said he would wait but left without dropping me closer to the hostel. Finally I asked for a taxi to Nungwi beach and the man they called started talking about how he wanted to marry me as his second wife. I had to stop the car and get my things out and walk to another hostel where a woman was at the front desk. I wish I had stayed there instead. I told her the story and she was shocked and she called me a much nicer taxi driver that got me safely to where I needed to go.
